My failed attempt at temp. control, wah, waaahhh

This is my second try at Chimone's blonde bombshell recipe Link. The recipe calls for wlp001 but my incarnation I'm using wy2112 san fran lager yeast. Why I thought I could pull this off in the midst of 80 degree ambient temp in basement is beyond me (Doh!). Here's it is.... 3rd day and...

    Blonde Ale Bombshell Blonde Ale

Did you change the yeast used on this recipe? I thought it called for a california yeast wyeast 2112...that's what I made it with initially back in April. turned out fantastic by the way. Do you like WLP001 California Ale better after testing? Maybe I just fudged it and confused White labs...

Can this be done? DIY gas manifold?

hey bird, those valves are nice. Look like the ones northern brewer?/morebeer? uses on there manifolds. Where'd you get them? Are they commercially available at Home depot or hardware store? I''m just really cheap, have a hard time paying shipping. I know I should support my LHBS.

Can this be done? DIY gas manifold?

I'm at wits end, anybody know what department to find the valves? Spent 2hours in Home Depot (no Lowes) tonight looking for the smaller manifold valves, no luck. Closest thing I found was a toilet shut-off valve. Would work but unable to find any fittings in the Watts section to assemble a...

    Hello from Wisconsin

I'll try some and share some. Ya I'd really like to get some opinions from EAC's. I use the term cautiously cuz I'm still not sure what it means. We gotta get together some time, but I won't be doing a all grain for awhile. Yea, alchemy, I feel a little strange squatting in your intro...

    Hello from Wisconsin

If you got the money and time to put together an all grain setup then go for it! But, on the other hand extract is a great way to get acclimated to your equipment and the process of brewing. BREW EARLY, AND BREW OFTEN! That is truly the best way to "find yourself" in relation to what can be...

    Hello from Wisconsin

gman, maybe the 3 of us(alchemy, too) could get our schedules synchronized and do a brew session at my house. I live on east side close to east towne mall. I'm doing all-grain now. I've got about 25 batches done and of those 4 are AG. An AG session for me takes about 8 hrs, with cleanup. So...

    "starter" !?!?!?

Jamil says to bump lager pitch rates up 1.5-2 times that of ale starters http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html. Also with ales, a 1.048 gravity beer for instance, so Jamil says, needs 2 liters of starter to properly ferment. Yes, 2 liters! That's like the same amount of a two liter...

    nspd 51 Any opinions?

So Cheney is exempt in this case cuz he says so but when it came time to give up emails pertaining to the state attorneys firing, Cheney's office, through the justice department, headed by Alberto Gonzalez, refused and actually obfuscated the investigation(i.e. Scooter Libby) by special...

    Hops

you might be getting carmelization of the wort. Extract has already been boiled so a hot break is not necessary. At the beginning of your boil only use 1/4 of your extract and whatever bittering hops that are called for. In the last 15 minutes of the boil add the rest of the extract to ensure...
