    Adding hopps to **** beer

When I first returned to brewing, I was explaining to my son about the small apparent differences between beer styles. We looked through recipes in The Complete Joy Of Homebrewing. Some recipes had the same ingredients with the only difference being ale yeast or lager yeast. I was...

Why bring the water to boil before adding extract

You beat me to the punch. Liquid malt extract will dive straight to the bottom of a pot of cold water, stick to the bottom of the pot, burn, and scorch on the bottom of the pot to the point where you will just want to throw the pot away. Don't ask me how I know this ! It took about 6...

    priming sugar problem

It's a time consuming process, but probably worth the effort. I found I was light on DME on bottling day, but I bottled anyway. Big mistake, undercarbonated bottles. I have always bottled with DME in solution, so I made another batch of bottling solution, wiped the tops of all the...

    Malt Milling Question

+1 for the Cereal Killer. I put about 50 pounds through my Corona style mill before I upgraded to the Cereal Killer. I'm only about 150 pounds through the Cereal Killer, but, to me, it was worth the upgrade. I used my drill to drive both. The Corona took longer and more effort.

    Tinnitus

All, Sorry for the long post, but this might have pertinent information to the original poster. I am not a doctor, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. My wife has tinnitus and what was diagnosed as vertigo for approximately 15 years. A couple of years ago, the vertigo had...

    Filling bottling bucket

The hard plastic tube from the bottling wand or a racking cane with the curved end cut off. Put this on the discharge end in the bottling bucket. This should keep the hose from floating.

    delabeling bottles

I have found that washing soda (sodium carbonate) easily dissolves most label glue. I used to make my own dishwasher detergent right after they removed the phosphates from dishwasher detergent and had not created a formula without phosphates that worked. Washing soda was one of the...

Weird question... is label glue regional?

I have definitely run into different glues. I have found that washing soda works extremely well as a label glue solvent. OK, I have washing soda because I was making my own dishwasher detergent for a while.
