What is the max temp you would ferment this at with EC1118? I am going slow at 65F now, but I need to speed things up so I can get my fermentation chamber open for another brew. I am time limited as these are going to an event in October. I dont want off tastes, and I can 'cold crash' to clear...

First batch of SP is in process here. Hope it comes out well. I started by making a must with some all natural white grape juice from a local vendor (.5 gal). The wine tasted like crap, but I just wanted to get some good yeast going.. EC-1118. I poured off most of the wine, stirred up the...

    Need some kegging advice

Wow. I have been too busy to deal with this, but I have finally made some headway on this project. Of course I have questions! Got the fridge cleaned and it works! Have been cleaning the kegs. Got line to replace the gunky line. Found out my LHBS does tank exchange for 5lb and 20lb tanks. I...

    Black IPA

The instructions are likely meant for a beginner/ease of use and assume you do not have a brew kettle that can handle larger volumes. If you can handle larger volumes, my experience has taught to do what was said above. Boils as much as you safely can and top off less.

    Bottling/Carb issues

Well here is the first pour. I am not sure I like the taste.. it seems off. Perhaps a bit metallic or chemically. It is still only 2.5 weeks in the bottle so hopefully aging can help it. It is carbing up. Still has a bit to go though.

    Need some kegging advice

Great info! Thanks. Another newbish question.. does the manifold/gas distributor drop the stated gauge pressure as seen by the kegs?

    Need some kegging advice

I meant PBW.. but PBR could help too! I picked up the fridge today. It has 3 taps, and one picnic tap inside. Not 4 taps. Otherwise as described. Needs cleaning then I will post pics (might be a couple days). The guy told me that he dispensed at 6psi. I guess that means he has shorter...

    Need some kegging advice

I have been brewing for about a year now, and just found a sweet (and cheap) keg setup at a yard sale on Saturday (picking it up today). Here is what I know I have (full inventory will be available once I pick it up). Full Size freezer top fridge Four kegs (pinlock) Co2 tank (10 or 15...

Can I condition in growlers with screw on lids?

It really depends on the quality AND condition of the growler. Even if both of those are optimal, make sure fermentation has really stopped and measure your primer carefully. Perhaps even bottle a few regular bottles from the same batch+primer. Then you can sample and give the growlers to...

    Skeeter Pee

Well folks, its time for me to try to make some of this. I have made beer, and cider but never a 'wine', so I would like some input on my plans. I am going to do a smallish 2-3 gallon batch. I do not have a wine slurry, but I am going to white grape juice to start the yeast (plan on EC-1118...

Not boiling caps. I soak in starsan solution, sames as my bottles.
