2.5 Gallons or 10 liters brewery set

Hi all, I'm planning a 10 liters setup for tests purposes and small batches of special beers. I got a 10 Gals set up that need to be rebuilt but it will wait a bit. The 10 gals setup was a flat setup with 2 kegs, 2 pumps, 1 Igloo cooler. I was doing fly sparging and was heating with 55 000...

    cheap insulated stainless mash tun

I think it got a too little neck for mashing. I use one like this: http://cgi.ebay.de/Edelstahl-Thermoport-Thermobehaelter-50-Liter-Neuware_W0QQitemZ380172844206QQcmdZViewItemQQptZKoch_Grill_Imbisstechnik?hash=item5884113cae Sorry if it's a german link, but bought it there when I was in europe

    IDEA: Ultimate Mash Tun

Yep, I know you use it for a certain time now, and it's because of you that I'm going to use steam for my new setup :) I might be to afraid of ruining wort by overheating....

    IDEA: Ultimate Mash Tun

Your idea looks very interesting but I'm afraid you could blow your wort. Last week end I talked about steam mashing with a pal, because I'm about to rebuild my little brewery. He's a master brewer with diplomas and so on from Germany so I think he knows what he's talking about. About the...

Yep, linux is cool. I use debian at work and I'm waiting for all my stuff to arrive to be able to do a full backup of my laptop and reinstall my beloved desktop bsd.

    First attempt with steam infusion

Pressure cookers are safe as long as you dont mess with the safety valve. Well, I hope to be in the next steam brewers here ;) I'll ask my wife to take pics while I'm building the steam generator.

    Mash Monitor

It's kinda like I want to do. Let the microprocessor do all the regulation and send to the computer all the sensors data and change the parameters on the fly :D

    Natural Gas vs Propane

About safety, here we can buy valves with an hole on the arm to put a lock on it.

    Steam generator idea

    Steam generator idea

Sure, one 850W iron will be too small to boil 1.5 gals of water in a decent time. 2500W seems more reasonnable ;)

    Score of the year?

I was thinking about using flow counters to calculate how much water or wort is transfered. Those counters give 752 impulsions per litre and cost round $60. I'll buy one to test and see what can be done ;) thebikingengineer => I'm also supposed to be an engineer in mechanics and automated...

    Score of the year?

Full automation is not a good choice. Assisted brewing is maybe better ;) I'm still working of my future brewery to automate mash temp and sparging. I might also try after that to deal with HLT heating automation.... You're lucky, I'll only have a 2x16 chars LCD, not touch screen !

    Copper Manifold / SS Braid.

Maybe because the braid could cover the slots in the copper and this should lead to filtration loss. No ? Mais be a braid covering a copper manifold with bigger slots ?

    Steam generator idea

This week end I had to repair a steam generator for an iron. So I had a look inside, and I saw something not so stupid. The tank was 2 quarts, in stainless steel, looking like a box. There was an output for a gauge, one for a pressure switch, one for the steam solenoid valve. Of course there...

    Buying an Angle Grinder?

Just wear gloves, glasses and ear plugs and never remove the guard ! The fingers are not supposed to be close to the disc. I cut myself a few years ago, but I removed the guard.... stupid me. Nothing really bad but hurts a bit. Btw, buy a good brand. I bought one 20$, china...

    Keggle Cutting

Wear good gloves and glasses as well as ear plugs. It's for your safety. Getting hot stuff in the eyes really hurts, harming your ears is not cool, and drilling a hand makes drinking beer harder ;) Don't forget to lubricate while drilling. Be gentle with your tool, not like me when I was...

    Question about immersion chillers?

sometimes copper is treated, you can wash it with soap and vinegar then boil it.
