    Thermostat connections

Just after submitting this post I found the answer on an appliance forum (thanks Google): "Assuming you know which wire is your live supply, normally the brown, that will go on (6) One of the black wires will be your return feed to the compressor (4) The other black wire will be for the...

    Thermostat connections

Hi all, I'm replacing the thermostat as part of a vintage fridge restoration and conversion, an I am having trouble figuring out how to connect it. It is a Danfoss type 3 thermostat and it has three terminals marked 3, 4 and 6. Anyone knows which ones to use? By the way, I know that most...

    Need kegerator ideas

I'm about to restore a 1947 Philco, and got really inspired by the Philco on this page: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/show-us-your-kegerator-29053/index211.html. Probably the coolest kegerator I've seen. Instead of painting mine, I'm thinking of wrapping it with the same kind of vinyl foil...

    1940's Kegerator

If you've got a fridge that old that is working ok, is there any reason for changing the compressor? I suppose it might be a good idea to change the electrical stuff, especially the relay, to decrease the risk of fire.

    Repair or replace cooling unit

Actually, I think I do. But I rewrote that sentence a couple of times, and managed to mess it up. :)

    1940's Kegerator

I picked up a 1947 Philco just the other day (see this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/repair-replace-cooling-unit-275373/). I got really inspired by the Philco F915 in this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/show-us-your-kegerator-29053/index212.html On a follow-up post by the...

    Repair or replace cooling unit

Hi all, I just got hold of a -47 Philco fridge (model A622) for literally nothing ($15). It is in really good condition and looks great, but it is not working. I do not know what the problem is, and i haven't researched it yet. My question is if it is worth trying to troubleshoot and...

    Show us your Kegerator

That is truly impressive! Did you replace the cooling system or are you using the old one? If you did replace it, how did you do that? The reason for asking is that I guess the old cooling system is quite noisy, unreliable and unefficient. Cheers, Mattias

Edworts Hause Ale - fermented down to .1020

Hi, I'm borrowing this thread for a minute. As I wrote in another thread (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=34739) I also have an ale that appears to have stopped fermenting too early. If I decide to re-pitch some yeast just to be sure all fermentable sugars are gone, should I...

    High SG after primary fermentation

ok, thanks for your prompt replies! It actually started to ferment with some activity in the airlock after I racked to secondary. So I'm in good hope! Thanks a lot, Mattias

    High SG after primary fermentation

Hi all, I just transferred a ale to secondary fermentation after eight days in the primary. The yeast I used was Safale S-04 harvested from my last ale batch. The malts used were: Pale ale malt: 2000 grams Dextrin malt (Carapils): 200 grams Crystal malt: 200 grams Toasted barley: 50...

    Lagering in bottles?

Well, I'm not planning to shorten the time it takes to get the beer ready, but since it's my first batch I'm trying to shorten the time to the first taste. I think I'll just bottle a few bottles and let the rest sit in the carboy. Thanks for all answers! /M

    Lagering in bottles?

I mean lagering as in botteling the beer after a total of three weeks of fermentation (both primary and secondary), instead of letting it sit in a fermenter bucket for another few weeks at low temperature. Cheers, M
