    Carbonation Problem

I allways end up with 49 to 52 bottles, normally 50 bottles. If I have less than a bottle after bottling I save it and that night I will gradually mix it it with the beer I currently drinking. After all, it's a sin to waste beer.

    OK, thanks.

    Carbonation Problem

So the water chemistry and the malts shouldn't have anything to do with it? I will put all my batches back in my 70F utility room. Thanks. Actually my utility room has it's own thermostat. In order to speed up the process what temperature do you think would be best considering I don't have much...

    Carbonation Problem

I have been drinking several batches of a Czech pilsner recipe I made. I used Bru'n Water to adjust my RO water using their Pilsen water profile. I have always used 5 oz of priming sugar when I bottle. The last batch was over carbonated and I think the previous batches were well carbonated. I...

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

I would think that since I have less than 10 square inches exposed to gas versus 250 square inches that the rate of absorption will would be proportional but certainly less. But that is just speculation. Anyway, it's finally getting warmer around here so I'm done with cold crashing until next...

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

I thought you said it takes time for atmospheric oxygen to dissolve. I realize some people do not like secondaries for various reasons. But if one is used the problem of suck-back becomes less of an issue if the secondary has little headspace.

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

I wouldn't say it's boiling but still pretty hot. Probably about as hot as when I dump 2 cups of water with priming sugar in my bottling bucket. What foam display are you referring to?

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

How can 2 cups of water have more dissolved oxygen than 2 cups of air? I don't let it cool anyway. I transfer to the secondary after all chances of blow-off are gone and leave it there for about 2 weeks before bottling.

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

Water has an expansion coefficient of 210 × 10– 6 and gases have 3400 × 10– 6 https://courses.lumenlearning.com/physics/chapter/13-2-thermal-expansion-of-solids-and-liquids/ https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/thermal-expansion About bottling I was referring to the exposure to oxygen while...

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

I boil the water before adding it, it's never more than a quart anyway since it's in the secondary.

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

If you had 2 to 3 cups of StarSan sucked into your fermentor then you didn't have less than a cup of c02/air in your fermentor that you were cold crashing.

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

Actually I'm not concerned about it. For me there will be much more exposure during bottling than transferring to a secondary. If I ever get to the point where I keg then things may change. Once I transfer to a secondary it normally becomes clear within 24 hours. This winter I experimented with...

    Cold crash suck-back volume estimate?

Gas expands at around 16 times as much as water due to temperature changes. I'm not sure if I'm right but based on calculators on the web, 5 gallons of water will contract about a half cup going from 70 to 32. I always use a secondary using a 5 gallon carboy. I top it off with water so that...

    RO systems cost effective?

I decided to get a RO system. My water is over 400 total hardness. It's a 5 stage system. I probably use about 400 gallons per year which would be over $300 for Walmart distilled water. I haven't thought through it to see if it is really cost effective for me. I'm sure it must be though. Filter...

    Chill Haze

I have been doing all grain brewing for over 2 years now. I have always had a chill haze problem. I tried everything I have read to solve it. Whirlfloc tablets, quick wort chilling, RO water, gelatin finings and maybe a few other things but nothing has helped. Based on a suggestion from a local...

    New Jersey Four tap keezer

I am interested in your keezer. I would like to find more about it. I would think there would be a way to send a message directly to you, maybe a PM? I am new to this forum and all forums and I am not sure how to do this. If you could give me some hints I will respond, thanks.
