    Corny Kegs rust?

I have a corny keg with a little bit of rust in the quarter sized "dimple" in the bottom of the keg. It's about a 1/4" wide. I'll try using some of the suggestions in this thread. If I can't get rid of it will it be a problem? Thanks.

    Mash paddle decision

There was a thread a while back about using a whisk. They recommended this one. It works really good for me. Winco Stainless Steel French Whip, 24-Inch, 1

How long does it take to keg

Thanks everyone for getting back to me. I think I will give it a try. I have seen some kegging videos on youtube where they clean the keg with PBW and disassemble all the fittings. This seems like it may not be necessary every time. It does take me a few minutes less than an hour to bottle but I...

How long does it take to keg

With everything considered, how long does it take to keg. It seems like it may not be that much faster than bottling from videos I saw on youtube. It typically takes me <1 hour for 2 cases. Thanks

Difference between Whirlpool and Dry Hopping?

I have some recipes that call for flameout or 0 min hop additions. I have been letting the wort cool to 185 then add the hops for 15 minutes then cool the wort to fermentation temps. I was never sure if this is how it should be done. Thanks.

    Two Hearted IPA

I have several lagers I have planned to brew while it's still cold out so it may be a couple of months but I'll report back. I'm interested too. BTW, I will be using yeast from empty bottles Bell's which is what I have done it the past.

    Two Hearted IPA

My goal is to replicate Bell's Two Hearted Ale and was wondering if anybody had experience with both. I made a recipe (1st link) several years ago and it turned out almost identical and just as good. Bell's recipe (2nd link) seems quite different, especially with regard to the dry hopping...

    Two Hearted IPA

I brewed this beer (Two Hearted Ale) several times about 2 years ago. It tuned out nearly identical to store bought and was very good. I used this recipe: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/bells-two-hearted-ale-clone-close-as-they-come.91488/ This thread got me thinking about brewing it...

    Homemade Bread Thread

I was wondering if the powder on my grain mill from crushing grains from brewing isn't the same as diastatic malted barley flour. Does anybody know, thanks?

    Topsflo TD5 Not Working

Thanks IslandLizard. I'm not sure where to get a new thrush washer. I will do a better job of cleaning it.

    Topsflo TD5 Not Working

I ended up taking it apart and cleaning it, that fixed it. There was one small washer that I'm not 100% sure where it goes. I'm pretty sure it goes ion the impeller shaft after the impeller. Thanks.

I have a Topsflo TD5 pump that died today. The power adapter is OK. It makes no sound at all like power bad. Any ideas, thanks.

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

I switched to PET carboys about 9 months ago. I had a similar problem with glass carboys but I could not feel it like I can now so I can't be sure. Ever once in a while I used to soak my glass carboys in PBW and it would help. If it is the same problem (most likely is) it seems to occur quicker...

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

I wonder if there is a thread on how to clean a PET fermenter after fermentation, if not maybe I should start one. BTW, how do you spell fermenter, is it even a word?

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

I do have hard water and I do have an RO system for my brewing water. This doesn't seem like water deposits from hard water, at least not the kind I am used to in my shower, etc. Sometimes I think I put a big scratch in the fermenter only to realize after using some elbow grease that it's some...

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

I don't use a cleaner, just a soft sponge. I do use Star San before filling.

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

I dry it in a carboy dryer but next time I'll dry it with a cloth after cleaning it. I'll also spray with RO water before drying. I'll also check if it's scaly before fermentation. Thanks.

    Calcium Buildup Inside Fermonster

What is this inside my Fermonster. It seems to be some sort of calcium buildup. It's rough and the only way I can get rid of it is to scratch it off with my fingernail but it comes back the next time I brew. I haven't tried PBW yet. Thanks.
