Dry Hopping in my primary fermenter

I just dry hopped my pale ale tonight. It was in the primary for 2 weeks, I put my hops in the secondary and racked on to them. I'll let it sit for one full week then bottle. I've never used bags when I dry hop. I just swirl the carboy around every once in a while to soak the hops. I have always...

    1 gallon first time batch

I thought mine would need one but I didn't get a very active fermentation. I just used about 1/4 package of mutons dry yeast so that could be the reason. But I say better safe than sorry

Very nice! Looks really sturdy. Nice job for sure. Did you build the cabinets also?

    1 gallon first time batch

Yeah the plastic bottle is so you can tell how much carbonation are in the bottles. I'm just going to use an old 20oz Pepsi bottle for that. Once it is carbed up I'm going to try and pasteurize the glass bottles. There's a really good thread on here that explains how to do it. I'd like to do a 5...

    1 gallon first time batch

Yeah it's a blow off tube. I mostly brew beer and didn't know what to expect as far as fermentation speed and how much co2 and foam it would develop so I went with a blow off tube to be on the safe side. The first batch of beer I ever made blew out the airlock and I ended up cleaning beer off...

What are your favorite commercial ciders?

I really like Spire Mountain Dark & Dry it's more sweet than dry but still really good. I also really like Ace cider, and Julian hard cider. They're both more on the dry side, really crisp with a light sweetness.

Blow out...Do I add more yeast???

I love when that happens. I've got a pale ale fermenting right now. I did a gravity reading on it this morning and drank the test and it was awesome even warm and flat. I can't wait to taste it after its dry hopped and all carbonated and nice and cold.

Blow out...Do I add more yeast???

Sounds like you did everything perfect.

Blow out...Do I add more yeast???

You don't need to re-pitch any yeast. They're reproducing like crazy in there and you'll have plenty left to carb up your bottles. Also it's good that you used a blow off tube instead of a regular airlock otherwise you'd probably have beer on the ceiling.

    Dogs

Yeah they watch out for him pretty good, especially when new people are around. They're all really good dogs and they're pretty mellow for the most part, but if the new person is being kind of loud and making a lot of quick hand gestures around the baby they'll let that person know its time to...

Results from juice, yeast and sugar experiments

I was bored yesterday so i attempted a 1 gallon batch of cider. I've been brewing beer for a little while and have wanted to give cider a shot so I went for it. I used a gallon of 100% pure pressed apple cider that had been pasteurized at the factory, 3/4 cup cane sugar, and 1/2 tsp of muntons...
