Winter Seasonal Beer Jolly Roger Christmas Ale

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll let you know how it turns out when I get a chance to brew it. I've got a few in line ahead of it right now but I'll be knocking them out in the next few weeks

    Why oh why

My name is Braxton and nobody can seem to remember. I've been called Baxter, Brandon, Branson, and Brettson on multiple occasions. Even like 30 seconds after I've introduced myself. I never correct anyone I just go along with it until someone else corrects the person and makes them feel stupid.

Triple 777 Brewery in Las Vegas

I'm a Vegas local and I love hanging out at main street station. They've got great beer for a great price. It's like a beer oasis in a desert full of bud light. If you come back you should also check out the Ellis Island Brewery. They're my other go to spot. $2 20oz micro brews (they also do...

Winter Seasonal Beer Jolly Roger Christmas Ale

I haven't done a full boil yet, but I've got the capability to. I just don't have a wort chiller so I usually do 2.5-3 gallon boils. I was planning on sticking to the same recipe you've got but was just going to figure out the amount of dme to add. Since I think 14 lbs might be a little too much.

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

    5 gallons of obese tire.

Winter Seasonal Beer Jolly Roger Christmas Ale

Thanks for posting this! I love Jolly Roger. I'm not set up for all grain yet so I'm going to try and make an extract/specialty grain recipe based on yours. I live in Vegas and LOVE Seattle. I try to make it up there as often as possible, but with a new baby it's probably going to be a while...

    Oatmeal Stout Yooper's Oatmeal Stout

How long do you recommend letting this sit in primary before bottling, and how long should it sit in the bottles before putting it in the fridge?

Want to make a Dark IPA

I only brew extract with specialty grains and only used a beer in a box kit the very first time. Since then I've been testing out and tweaking my own recipes. I like to find a beer that I'm a fan of, research what's in it from the brewery that produces it, see if I can find a clone recipe for...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

I definitely don't see the appeal. I've got my own classification for some of beers they make. To me they fall into the "does anybody like me yet?" category. I feel like that's what they're asking themselves when they decide to mix up some of the stuff they do. They're making money god bless...

    My search of kegs

    NOOOOOOO!!!! Hahahahaha I'm screwed!

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

I'm with you on that one. I've never had a beer from Dogfish Head that I liked. I'm definitely not one to waste beer and even if it tastes awful but I've dumped plenty of theirs.

    My search of kegs

Who cares where they came from, they're yours now. I say good job and congratulations on your kegs. Last I checked they hadn't started installing LoJack on kegs yet. I'm guessing you'll be just fine.

    Oh god.

On the plus side once you get the labels off you'll never have to worry about getting them off again. Unless you decide to label your own beer in which case some masking tape and a sharpie works great for that. The sanitizing is the easy part.

    Straining wort after brewing?

Straining seems to work really well to aerate the wort for me. I have a big white plastic funnel, and also a strainer with a fine mesh both bought from my LHBS. I put the funnel in my carboy, place the strainer over top and pour away. I used this method this past Monday and had fermentation...

    White house beer

A little late reading this, but that's hands down the best post on this whole thread.

    Topping off

I usually have 6 or 7 gallons of purified water on hand when I'm brewing. I do 2.5 gallon boils and keep the rest in the fridge so it's nice and cold when I need it. I do my boil, check the water level with a piece of copper tubing I have marked for my brew kettle to determine how much I lost to...
