Redlands CA bottle shops - Hangar 24

IIRC, Hangar does sell bottles at the brewery. I've been a couple of times. If you can't find it there, one of the local bars/gastropubs might have it on tap. Try Charlie Jewel's, Wild Rocket, or Eureka Burgers. They tend to have most of the special release Hangar stuff on tap. Of course...

    Brewing for a party

I think a wheat is always a solid choice for BMC types. I've yet to come across one that will turn down a good hefe.

Why is Centennial Blonde so popular?

I believe so. It came with my kit, so I didn't pick it out.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

The TJs stuff is pretty hit and miss. Their Oatmeal Stout is pretty good and so is the Dunkelweiss. That said, the Mission St. Blonde is awful and so is the Kennebunkport IPA.

Why Do You Choose to Homebrew?

I just started brewing a few months ago, but here are some reasons.. I like beer, alot. Especially good beer. I needed a hobby. Before I met my wife and had kids, my hobby was screwing around on the computer. I still like doing that, but it just isn't a great hobby with young kids...

Is there an easy way to tell when to punt?

I don't think it tastes like it is supposed to so I would say it has off flavors.

Is there an easy way to tell when to punt?

I screwed up my last batch of beer. I opened the lid on my bucket too many times while it was fermenting and got a lacto infection. Decided to bottle anyways. I'm pretty sure I also overprimed it cause a left a bit of beer in the fermenting bucket because of the infection. I discovered a...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Exactly.. I seriously think that the Rogue Maple Bacon Donut Ale is one of the worst beers I have tasted. However, all of the other Rogue Ales that I have tried are freaking fantastic. That one beer was terrible, but everything else is awesome.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

To put it nicely, my hometown is a racially diverse and very middle class place. A few years back, latinos became the ethnic majority in the city. Nothing wrong with that, but the blue collar folks aren't drinking craft brew (can't blame them either). There is also a fairly large...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

My home "town" is a city of almost 200,000 people. Despite being only 60 or so miles away from the Stone Brewery, it is damned hard to find a place that sells bombers. Usually, the most exotic brews at most liquor stores is like Sam or Newcastle (maybe Fat Tire). Anyhow, a tiny little store...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Another one that I personally disliked was Shipyard's "Smashed Pumpkin". It was "hot" tasting to me and I wasn't enjoyable at all. That said, their normal pumpkin ale is pretty tasty.

    Ministry and beer

This has been an interesting thread, especially for a non-believer type such as my self. I grew up in a fairly non-religious family. I guess it would be safe to say that my parents were spiritual, but we didn't attend church. My dad's views of religion were passed on to me (and probably my...

    when is it not beer?

I completely agree with you on that. I've discovered a ton of new tastes (alcohol, food, etc) in recent years now that I've opened my mind a little bit more. At worst, I figure it is only one meal/drink/whatever and even if I hate it, it will be over soon enough. More often than not, I end...

    when is it not beer?

Shortly before we got married, we took a quick getaway because my wife was going nuts with wedding stuff. We visited a tasting room and to be honest, Carlo Rossi was about the extent of my wine experience at the time (cause it was a cheap way to get drunk). We're going through the whole...

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Madden may have said that, but it is really a Yogi Berra quote.. "Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical."

    Best state for Craft Breweries?

For sure. A place like Bishop is a "city" in the sense that people from tiny towns go there for shopping and all of that other stuff. It has a population of like 3,900 but it seems larger. I guess it is a matter of scale.

    Best state for Craft Breweries?

You have to remember that when us folks in Southern CA talk a "small town" that there are still 30,000+ people and they are usually surrounded by much larger cities. For example, a pretty good brewery opened up in a neighboring city (Norco for So Cal folks). It has like a population of 40,000...
