What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Even though it wasn't the worst, I had a Goose Island IPA on a date last week with my two ladies (my wife and 8 week old daughter). It was just middling and I expected more.l

Dedicated Spring Water Soda Water Machine Build

I looked at the Sodastream stuff and there are a couple of options to get around the proprietary canisters. You can get a connection to fit it to CO2 tank like one would use in a kegerator. When I was looking at that option, people stored the tank under their counter and ran the line to the...

Dedicated Spring Water Soda Water Machine Build

Seriously, cool build.. and even more seriously, I stay away from sugary stuff for the most part anyways and I do agree that we eat way too much of it as a society. Can we just say that too much sugar is a toxin?

Dedicated Spring Water Soda Water Machine Build

I'm not a dietician or anything like that (heck, I have a BA in English), but I think saying that kind of stuff is dangerous. Sugar is what fuels our body. It is our energy source.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

I've been peed on, pooped on, and puked on but luckily never in my face.

Is it legal to lock a teen in a cage until 21?

I think most parents are guilty of thst stuff. Dreading an event and one of the kids wakes up with sniffles? Darn it, we can't make it. Don't want to get everyone else sick of course.

    Epic Boat Bar

I know folks are saying that they woud love to visit during the summer, but gosh darn it, I would love to visit your place on a crisp fall day. I loved the picture on your website with the trees changing colors. Crisp for a SoCal guy like myself means like 50+ degrees of course!

Funny things you've overheard about beer

To be fair, I've had IPAs that tasted like that. But they were outliers!

Is it legal to lock a teen in a cage until 21?

Just a quick question on this one.. Have your friends actually told you that they are locked down and miserable are is just a perception thing? I will say to each their own, but I was 30 and still in school when we got married. A couple of months later, my wife was pregnant (totally planned...

Is it legal to lock a teen in a cage until 21?

My boys help me bottle my beers. They love filling the bottles and helping me with the capper.

Is it legal to lock a teen in a cage until 21?

A few last things.. I worked with a guy many years ago that didn't want kids. He said it took him a while to find a girl that felt the same way, but it was worth it to him. Having 3 kids, I know how much work they are and that's why I respect the heck out of people who honestly make the...

Is it legal to lock a teen in a cage until 21?

No freaking crap about people saying stuff. My sister just recently told everyone that she is expecting. Her MIL told her "the baby is probably going to be ugly, because (hubby) was the ugliest baby". Nice huh?

Is it legal to lock a teen in a cage until 21?

I have 3 kids under 5. My oldest will be 5 in June, my middlest turned 3 in March, and my youngest is going to be 9 weeks old tomorrow. Lemme just say this (as others have echoed), my kids are my life for good or bad and it is overwhelmingly good. When you pick your kids up from pre-school...

15 things craft beer fans think but don't say

Pretty interesting article, but one little quibble I have is that the author seems to appreciate conformity to a bit. He (or she) wants one simple definition for IPA or trumpeting the Weihenstephan even though it has kind of stifled creativity in Germany a little bit. Or the complaint that...

    Bitter after taste

I'm not an expert being all of about 6 batches in myself, but the bottles I just tasted today that were way young have been my best yet. I can't say exactly why but I do know I did a way better job with temp control during fermentation, pitched my yeast at a lower temp, and didn't use tap...

    Who here doesnt hate BMC?

A few years back, we did a camping trip (well, cheapy cabin) for a bachelor party weekend. We bought a ton of hopbombs at the local BevMo before heading up the hill. The only "easy" drinking beer we had picked up was a Sam's Summer sampler thing from Costco. Even the Sam's was a little heavy...

    More on Faux Craft Beer

My bro was a rep for a local (mostly) Miller distributor for a while and you are darned right that he fought to keep his product up front. Of course, his company also sold Sam, Guinness, and Corona just to name a few. You gotta push what is going to sell for you, even if you don't like it.

    Brewing for a party

For the BMC crowd? An American Hefe... Just going to by my family members that stick to Coors Light and such, they seem to like Shock Top and similar beers. Going local, my BIL loves Hangar 24's Orange Wheat (and it is a damned good example of a wheat beer, I just don't love wheat beers)...

What do you do with all your beer?

My last beer, a Scottish Ale that I damn near infected and overprimed, I drank it all by myself in short time period because of I had a bottle bomb. It was good stuff, but not my favorite. I try to give at least 1/4 of my batches away everytime (except for the Scottish.. just wasn't happening!).
