    Go SF Giants!!!

Is this former Phillies pitcher friend the same guy who calls the Yankees his daddy by any chance?? :ban: And yeah, it's ROUGH not having the YES network down here. I have XM radio in my car so I'll try and find excuses to drive when games are on

    Go SF Giants!!!

Yessss!! NY pride baby!! I'm an NY native! The hardest part of living in DC is never getting to see Yankees games!

    Go SF Giants!!!

Well, I'm a Florida State University fan so I'm a big Buster Posey fan so I'm pulling for the Giants...ultimately, I am a Yankees fan...now that I've cleared the air, let the smack talk against me commence :cross:

Stone-Victory-Dogfish Head / Saison du Buff

I tried this beer at the DFH brewpub in Rehoboth and initially I thought it was pretty good. Upon my server returning and asking how I liked it, he mentioned how similar it tastes to a salad..that kind of ruined it for me because the next sip I took, I realized it was like drinking a salad...

First Batch (kinda) Blood Orange Hef.

I usually start the time once my wort has come to a rolling boil. I've had experienced no problems or off flavors doing things that way so I think you'll be good! The one thing I'd recommend is to try and not let your wort sit out for a few hours. If anything, chill it to pitching temp, put in...

    Cock Ale

I'm assuming there must be some big cock involved with this ale being that it calls for magnums

    Pumpkin in Secondary?

I just recently brewed a pumpkin porter and did not add pumpkin into the boil. I plan on adding it to the secondary so I'll post the results once it's done fermenting and bottle conditioned. Could be about another month or so until I can post the outcome, though.

Brewery Ommegang Tasting - Hunt Valley, MD

Hello all! Just thought I'd share with everyone that I'll be conducting a sampling for Brewery Ommegang at Shawan Liquors in Hunt Valley, MD. It's this coming Saturday (10/16) from 3-5. I wasn't told what beers I'd be sampling so your guess is as good as mine! See ya there!

    Starting a University Homebrew Club

I know at my alma mater, Johnson & Wales University (in Providence, RI), there is an official club recognized by the university called JBrew (a funny take on JWU). I'm not sure how it got started but I do know that JWU is a well known culinary school so I'm sure that helped. We even had/have...

    Top 10 Fall Beers

I keep hearing such great things about the Pumpking...I really want to try it! I bought a twelve pack of Tumbler a few weeks ago (grocery store had it on sale for $14!) and still have a few bottles left it's pretty good...I think this year's Punkin by DFH is the most flavorful out of all the...

    Stout and Porter Tasting Ideas

I'm headed up to Providence this weekend too! Weird! Anyway, enjoy your birthday! It looks like you have all the recs you need for your little dinner but if you can get any local beer (don't know if Newport Storm makes a stout or porter), I'd definitely go for that!

    Extract Kit w/specialityGrains recommendation

Yeah, the Brewer's Best kits have treated me well so far. I actually did their Imperial Pale Ale back in July and it turned out great! I just did their Pumpkin Spice Porter on Saturday and the sample smelled and tasted great!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed up 5 gallons of a pumpkin spice porter...the sample I tasted was awesome and my roommates keep telling me how awesome the house smells!

    Breaers Best Holiday Ale Mistake

I think the good part about it is you know what the spices are so come fermenting time, if you use a secondary and don't feel like it has enough spice, you can always add a bit of cinnamon and/or nutmeg

What's your favorite fall and winter beers?

I'm brewing a Pumpkin Porter as we speak!! Will that meet your standards?! :cross:

What do craft brewers do with experimental batches?

I know Dogfish Head has a small brewing set up at their brewpub in Rehoboth Beach and when they make their experimental batches it's on that set up. They then sell it at their brewpub and if it's a big hit they mass produce it at their brewery and if it's not they just label it as a "brewpub...

    Careers in Brewing

Ahhh gotcha! I guess I will just have to hope that my tasting job with Duvel starts to blossom and expand into roles similar to what you are doing!

    Careers in Brewing

You say that you are learning to sell and market beer, which is awesome! I actually want to get into craft beer sales but have been kind of stuck figuring out how. I work part time for Duvel USA/Brewery Ommegang doing tastings but that's really it. I get to talk to people and learn the products...
