    SWMBO complaining of smell......

Turkey fryer would be the better option just because of the extended benefits such as full boils, etc. Or you can just brew a bunch of spice beers...when I brewed my pumpkin porter my roommates were stoked because it made the house smell like pumpkin pie for a few days :p

How do you prepare yeast starters?

Check out billybrew.com. He's a poster on this site and has a really good blog and one of his posts is a video about how to make a starter! It's good stuff!

Is it a good idea? Calling all Engineeers and Software guys!

What was the outcome of all this? What did the one company sweeten the pot to? Have you heard anything from those other companies that you were going to interview with?

    In a Blizzard right now!!!!

Yeah, the snow is insane. I just got home from driving from Holbrook (mid Suffolk County) back home to DC in this mess of a storm. Luckily it's not nearly as bad here as it will be up there!

What did Santa bring you for Christmas??

Brewing Classic Styles, Designing Great Beers, Radical Brewing, Brewing Up A Business...and around $425 from various family members to assumably apply to more brewing equipment :) On another note, I had some Troeg's Mad Elf tonight and was not impressed. It made me very sad :(

The Four Homebrews of the Hopocalypse

What an awesome idea/theme! I'm very close to switching from extract to partial mash/BIAB and will definitely be making one or all of these!

    Really neat gift from SWMBO...

Nice! One of my roommates is home in California for the holidays and said she'll pick me up some bottles since I drove her to the airport at like 5 AM. Pretty good exchange if you ask me! Glad your SWMBO was able to score you some bottles!

Official 2010 "Pay it Forward" Thread

I'd be interested in the California Steam! You wouldn't even need to ship it to me since I live in DC!

    Northern Virginia Brewer

Welcome! I've attended a couple of DCHomebrewers meetings and they were/are a good time. I wasn't able to make it to the last meeting (last Thursday) but I mean people generally bring whatever they're brewing. I've had everything from a pink peppercorn IPA to a brown ale to a coffee stout. You...

    How weird am I?

I'm actually the very same way and I'm just as young as you. I would so much rather sit around and hang out as opposed to going out to bars and getting wasted. I just feel like staying in and hanging out is cheaper (yes, I'm quite frugal with my nearly $80K in student loans) and just way more...

    any Vegas brewers?

I'm not from Las Vegas but I did live there for three months. My dad lives out there and from what I understand, North Las Vegas is one of the shadier parts of town. That's where you find that most of the prostitutes are, gang violence, etc. When I lived there, the only time I went to North Las...

    Any bloggers out there?

I don't currently have a blog but I've been getting more and more interested in starting one and calling it "Beer, Bass, and .....Babes?" about homebrewing, beer reviews, the adventures of my band (I play bass), and being a single young dude in Washington, DC
