    What are the chances?

Yeah, I think it'll be all right but just wanted outside opinions. It certainly didn't look infected but I wanted to see if possibly leaving it uncovered for a few days might have had an impact. Thanks for the responses!

    What are the chances?

So stupid me brewed up a batch of AHS Agave Wit on Saturday night. I put it down in my basement to let it ferment and didn't check it out until today. Well, it turns out the stopper and airlock blew off the carboy. I have NO idea when this happened...it could have happened an hour after I put it...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    A Turning Point!

Thanks! I'm sure I'll do a few more partial mash batches while I gather up some more equipment for all grain but I'm totally pumped to make that jump!

    A Turning Point!

I basically followed the brew in a bag method that's posted in the beginners section (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/easy-partial-mash-brewing-pics-75231/). It was very simple to follow and it resulted in a stress-free transition!

    A Turning Point!

Ah, feeling good about life right now! I feel like this weekend was a real turning point in brewing for me. So many things I did differently than normal and I feel like it's a new beginning for me. This weekend I: Switched to partial mashes and find them to be so much more enjoyable than...

"Boil The Hops, Not The Malt Extract" By: Steve Bader

Lots of new things going on for my next three brews...it's my first jump to partial mash and with that, I'm going to try late extract addition so this thread was a good find (although, I know there are tons on here regarding the same topic!)

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

To piggy back off of this, it would also be appropriate to know the number of people who ordered from AHS recently and HAVEN'T had a problem. Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon, but, I did place an order from them last week and haven't had any problems to date. That said, I didn't use my CC...

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

I ordered from AHS on Saturday and as of today there have not been any unauthorized charges on my card. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for suspicious activity, however, thanks to this thread.

    Best BeerFest

I haven't actually been to it but I heard Savor in DC is a pretty good time

    Dogfish Head Brewery/Brewpub

In regards to the size, I definitely agree that when I toured there I thought the brewery was very small in comparison to how well known they are. I enjoyed going to their brewpub as well. The brewpub actually sold some merch onsite cheaper than at the brewery (I bought a DFH messenger bag at...

    New guy in Ashburn VA

Welcome Karl! I think you'll find this forum and its members to be a great resource! Congrats on your first brews!

Do I quit or suck it up?

I definitely agree and I've been trying to find work that will make me happy despite a potential cut in pay. If I have to call my student loan companies to negotiate a lower payment than so be it but I'm definitely ready to be happy! Of course, taking a cut in pay is not desirable but you're...

    California Common

Got one of these fermenting as well. Used Northern Brewer and Cascade. Added some honey to the original recipe and it smells absolutely awesome! Can't wait until it's done!

I'm watching Marley and Me for the first time

Yeah, that movie was way sadder than I expected it to be. Eyes definitely got watery but no tears came down.

How Did You Learn To Brew?

Back in college, my one of my managers from when I worked retail would always talk about how he homebrewed (he also got me into craft beer). It interested me so as soon as I graduated I started brewing. Read some books on it, watched a friend go through the process (I'm more of a visual...

    Whats your commute time?

When I first moved after college, I lived in Gaithersburg with my ex-girlfriend and was commuting (driving) to Arlington (Ballston to be exact) and it would roughly take me an hour. Then I finally got my feet on the ground and moved to DC and would only commute a half hour by means of the metro...
