First Gose - What went wrong

Yeah, with my method, I just boiled off any alcohol that was created during the souring process unfortunately. That'll teach me to not take multiple gravity readings.

First Gose - What went wrong

I attempted my first Gose, and I think I messed up somewhere. I used the sour wort technique: mash, collect wort, heat to 180F, cool to 100-120F, pitch lacto starter, wait 3 days with temp around 90F, 60 min boil for hops and spices, cool and pitch yeast. Measuring the gravity post boil, I got...

Urgent Help: Atlanta Area Brew Pubs

There's not much in south Atlanta so you're going to need to take the train north if you want anything good. Wrecking bar and the Porter are really good in little five.

Dry hopped in the keg 1-2 days too long. Will taste fade with time?

I wouldn't think a day or two would matter that much (I could be wrong). Chance of a DMS issue?

    Who got some hopslam?

Hop city and Ale yeah sold out ridiculously fast here in Atlanta. Anyone know where I can try this beer?

    Honey malt

Turned out really good. The honey malt wasn't too overpowering at all. I love the head retention due to the rye. The head would look like this the entire time drinking. I did end up tweaking the recipe. For a 5.5 gallon batch: 11 lb 2 row 3.5 lb Rye Malt 1 lb Honey Malt 1 lb...

Interesting Beer News for North Carolina

Wow, I actually just went up to Asheville too from Atlanta to tour/taste all the breweries. The Nantahalla IPA was the best beer I had. I also tried emailing them but got no response unfortunately. Allowing the small breweries to give tastings and directly sell to the customer was awesome and...

    Honey malt

I'm planning on brewing a Honey Rye IPA with the following grain bill (4.5 gallon batch): 2 row - 9 lb (73%) rye - 2.5 lb (20%) honey malt - 0.75 lb (7%) Should I add any crystal malt or do you think the honey malt will be enough? Is 7% of the grain bill overkill?

    Where to buy Galaxy hops?

Farmhouse has galaxy and simcoe hops in stock. I've been meaning to try some myself.

    Simcoe

Actually, looks like rebel brewer and midwest are out too according to the website.

    Simcoe

I knew I should have ordered some the other day. Looks like farmhouse is sold out. Rebel brewer has some, but it's twice the cost. I guess it's no more than my LHBS though.

    Too much foam

5/16 is way too large. 3/16 is ideal

    Show us your Kegerator

Looks great! Where did you get the chalkboard from? What are you using for the glasses mat?

maybe a stupid question but how do I get my taps tight?

It looks like the middle of the tool is a faucet wrench.

    cheap and simple water filter

I built this simple water filter to fill up the brew kettle and soda water keg and thought I would share. All the parts were from home depot and cost under $20. It can attach to either my faucet or my garden hose. I did a taste test of the water and you can definitely tell the difference...

Ideas needed for Homebrew Club tasting event

Are you able to sample the beers before the group tasting? I think this would allow you to organize things better. For example you could have stations that highlight specific aspects of the beers. AG vs Extract, High temp fermentation vs low temp fermentation, stations highlighting...

    Frozen Pints

I went to the Atlanta Summer Beer Fest this past weekend, and there was a vendor called Frozen Pints giving out free samples of beer flavored icecream. The few flavors I tried were awesome. Has anyone heard of them or tried something similar? The flavors I tasted were the cinnamon espresso...
