    DC Group Buy #20

I brewed four quick batches after the last group buy but still have a nice supply, hope to get some more brew days in before the buy closes so I can restock. Unsure the wife will be happy if I add more taps just so I can brew more so I can buy more grains.. vicious circle. Happy brewing all!

    What are you drinking now?

Some guy I met the other day gave me a Russian Imperial which was bottled in 6/96, decided to open it tonight and see what it was like. Hasn't oxidized but it's viscous with lots of coffee, chocolate, and plum. Almost too syrupy to drink, no idea what the ABV is but will see how I feel in the...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

A me too post, got the William's motor when it was on sale and attached it to my Cereal Killer. Didn't hide all of the wiring but still happy with the way it came out. Opted for rubberized mat over stainless, was a lot easier to cut and keeps things (like carboys) from moving around. Table...

Raising a glass to your dedication and hard work, thanks for putting in the hours to see this order through. Slainte!

    DC Group Buy #19

I took 10 more of the Vienna leaving only 5#. I don't have the WAF that others might have so can only take so much, unfortunately.

    DC Group Buy #19

Kisejohn A personal thanks for closing out the Pilsner I started, a group thanks (I'll just speak for everyone) for closing out that damnable Melanoidin. Brew on!

    DC Group Buy #19

Added a split of Weyermann Pilsner (WEY1003) if anyone is in need

    DC Group Buy #19

Any interest in a crystal 10 or 20 split?

    DC Group Buy #19

I'll likely pick up some splits, as well, but my to-buy list started getting too long and too costly 1 x 1927C Briess Pale Ale 2-Row Malt 50 Lb Thanks Tony (and Peter)!

Break down kegs all the way every time?

Just a +1 for passedpawn's approach, I'm pretty OC about sanitation and clean out all of my connections each time a keg kicks (including breaking down the quick connects). I also use a DIY pump (got the design somewhere here on HBT) to pump BLC through my lines then break down each Perlick tap...

    Temperature after Bottling

You'll be fine, the temperature is fine for bottle conditioning and more importantly stable. Temperature extremes (very hot during the day, very cold at night) will affect your beer a lot more than a couple of degrees. RDWHAHB, welcome to spending way too much time obsessing and thinking about...

    First brew in 2017

Just wrapped up a 5gal AG quad on the East Coast US (got a late start). Figure I'll need the high ABV to see me through 2017 (or just to celebrate it being better than 2016). Ricky - Love the HERMS setup but, you're right, it needs a nice stand or brew house. Sláinte!

    Beersmith 2...yay or nay?

Highly recommended if you're an AG brewer and not a recipe database (although you can certainly use it that way). I rely on it for every brew, designing my own or tweaking others, and use the mobile app while actually brewing. There are weaknesses but I've tried the others and still come back to...

    Just got my grain mill!

Mostly a me-too post, 60# Vittles Vaults with 2-row and Maris, specialty grains in 3G or 5G buckets with gamma lids. Think links to non-sponsors are frowned upon but check pricing using a deal site (hbf), Vaults and lids are periodically on sale. Saving up for an 180rpm motor myself to give a...

    better bottle capping options?

I've been happy with the Red Barron capper but only use it for the occasional batch, most batches go to kegs (which you will love once you have them)

    What are you drinking now?

Siesta Key limited edition beer barrel rum, award winning and sort of beer related. Awesome rum to serve neat or over a bit of ice.

    What are you drinking now?

Also drinking a HB Mosaic SMaSH, sans nice labels (just out of the keg). Was shooting for something like a Southern Tier 2xSMaSH and I think nailed it.
