    Finished up and wanna keg.

I think I'll set and forget for this time through. Is it required to purge the keg of air with CO2 or anything? Any secrets that would make it easier for a first timer? I'll have my CO2 with my keg in the frig for a few days till I get a hole cut for the CO2 line to the outside of the fridge...

First Brew: DME & LME Addition Question

I do partials in a 3 gallon pot. 2.5 gallons of water to start. Once I add ~6lbs of DME its dicey throughout the boil. I'd add the DME first, its harder to get dissolved and it will easier in fresh water rather water with 6lbs of LME already in it.

    First brew-brewers best summer ale

The spice pack I figure is what is giving the beer its sweet/sour taste. Its very citrus-y for me right now. We'll see how it ages out.

    My Continued Adventure

Even after a 60 min boil. I had 1.5 gallons of water in the carboy. Added the 2.5 gallon "wort" on top of it and topped off the carboy. Then shook it up, twice. Not really worried about it as it will either rend up in more alcohol or a "sweeter" porter. Just wondering what may have been the...

    My Continued Adventure

I brewed an extract Samuel Smith Taddy Porter Clone from Midwest Supply on Saturday. I used the Irish Ale Wyeast upgrade over the dry option. First time with the liquid yeast and it was a little nerve racking till the bag swelled up. Video is fermentation right around 20 hours after pitching...

    First brew-brewers best summer ale

Well I brewed a second batch on Saturday (Taddy Porter Clone), more on that later. I popped the top on the first bottle of Summer Ale. Could use a little more carbonation but it had only been bottled for a week, will more time mean more bubbles? Taste was good, more importantly the wife loved...

    Bottle Cleaning Questions

I'm finishing up a batch of bottles in oxyclean tonight, 24 hour soak. Found a mouse in one bottle. I suppose the smell of beer in a bottle in a garage was too much for the little guy. I'll rinse out of the oxyclean and use a bottle brush to ensure no crustiness. Starsan rinse on bottling day.

    First brew-brewers best summer ale

Well hopefully it all turns out well. I added a few quarts of tap water to the batch to get a few degrees off the post boil temp and to get my gravity right according to the recipe in the kit. I hit .044 while the recipe called for .042-.046 The carboy is in the basement at abbot 70 degrees and...

    First brew-brewers best summer ale

I've read quite a bit and thought I knew what to do, then I read the directions that came with the kit. It says fermentation will be done in 4-6 days It then suggest transferring to a secondary fermentation vessel for 2 weeks after primary fermentation runs 5-7 days. This will get me a better...
