    Best SMaSH recipe you've made???

I made a Galaxy/Vienna SMaSH a couple weeks ago. Smelled wonderful going into the fermenter, and can't wait to try it in a few more weeks.

Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

I brewed this last Sunday night. Brew went very well, except that I either got more absorption than I accounted for, or a faster boil off rate. Not sure, but only ended up with 5gal in the fermenter, rather than my usual 5.5gal. OG came in at 1.066, (recipe said 1.061), IBU's came in at 29, SRM...

    Basement Brew Area Build

My wife actually really likes the brew smell. She enjoys the smell of boiling wort and hops (although not quite as much as I do).

    Portable kegerator - BYO knockoff

Also, I've been trying to think of a way to serve a pair of kegs at a new years party. You may have just given me my answer! Are you having any trouble with keeping the keg at a consistent temp with the dry ice?

    Portable kegerator - BYO knockoff

You could just line it with a couple of heavy duty garbage bags inside each other. Put the keg inside those, then drop the ice around the keg. Once you're done, pull the keg out, then lift the garbage bags with water in the bottom out. You can also get heavier ply plastic bags online. Something...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

If you're BIAB'ing, tighten 'er up even more! I do BIAB, and I tightened it down till everything is well crushed, and there's a bit of flour in it. With BIAB, you don't need to worry about the crush creating a good filter bed, because the bag is doing it for you.

New assistant brewer... My first born son!

Congrats, and great name! (Mine happens to be spelled with an E instead of an O...)

Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

Cool. That's a relief. However, I did manage to move the brew date up to this Sunday, so I will have more time if I need it. I hope to let it ferment for 2 weeks, then get it in a keg and carbonate. So you didn't have any problem just using 2 packs of the US-05 for 11 gallons of wort? I was...

Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

So I'm planning on brewing this next Saturday (not tomorrow, the following Saturday) for a New Years party I'm going to. Assuming it takes a full 3 weeks to attenuate, is 2 days going to be enough time to get it carbed in a keg? Assuming force carbonation, of course. I'm hoping that it will...

    SMaSH APA

I brewed a Galaxy/Vienna SMaSH a couple weekends ago. It smelled amazing going into the fermenter! Here's the recipe: Method: BIAB Style: American Amber Ale Boil Time: 30 min Batch Size: 5.5 gallons (fermentor volume) Boil Size: 7.5 gallons Efficiency: 75% (brew house) Source: Bearded Idiot OG...

    Yeah. Bad idea.

    My ongoing basement bar build

Gorgeous bar! I can't wait to see it completely finished with the first pour! I also can't wait to do something like this in my basement some time in the future.

Fermentation Chamber Build - Mini Fridge

I just realized I never stated how much I spent. Mine is a little over-budget, mainly because I ended up having to buy two more used mini-fridges to finish my build (my first one that I'd had since college sprung a refrigerant leak, the second one didn't have the kind of coils I wanted, the...

Fermentation Chamber Build - Mini Fridge

This really depends on what is available to you where you live. Looking back on it, it probably would have been slightly cheaper for me to buy a full-size fridge or chest freezer and a temperature controller. If you want to ferment AND lager in the same piece of equipment, your best bet is...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

My first batch was with straight American 2-Row. The second batch was straight American Vienna. I think maybe the vienna grains were slightly smaller than the 2-row, because I had more issues with whole grains in the vienna than the 2-row, and I didn't change anything on the mill between...

Ebay Temp Controller (STC-1000) Wiring diagram

I believe this is the fuse holder that I used, although I don't remember mine being 30amp. This is from home depot. I also got a pack of fuses, both fast and slow-blowing fuses...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

I've done two batches so far using my Corona. I got 75% efficiency on the first batch, and it looks like about 72% efficiency on the second batch. I think I need to work on the rotating grind plate some though, it is REALLY wobbly, and isn't keeping a consistent distance from the static plate at...

Fermentation Chamber Build - Mini Fridge

I'm currently just using blue painters tape to hold my temp probe against the side of whichever carboy is undergoing active fermentation at the time. I'm planning to take a small piece of leftover foam from insulating mine, digging out a recess for the probe on one side, and then taping that...
