I chill with what I call the ice cream maker method. I put a 25' coil in a bath of ice and salt and let the beer run through the coil. I can run 10 gallons through in about 10 minutes and I usually run it through twice to get it to 75-80 degrees. I brew outside in Fort Worth. A couple of things...
OK..so I can give a grown man the benefit of the doubt for paying someone else to do some chores. For me, I freakin HATE cleaning my pool. Hell, I hate the pool, but the wife and kids live in the damn thing so I keep it clean for them. My wife offered to do it ONCE, but after she blew up the...
Yes...but a little boiling water should do the trick to reuse the pump for this. I always flush with water after brewing and leave my heavy santizing to just before I brew. My rig is stored outdoors with a cover so it needs it.
Not if you have a proper drain on it. You need a drain on it anyway so you don't leave fluid in the pumps for next time. Boil up a little water and run it through from one of the other kettles. It's a good idea anyway.

Have several batches under the belt on this one. BCS controlled fully automated...well with the exception of grain and hop additions (I have to have something to do!).
I used 12v dc gas and liquid valves. That way I was able to us some very small, very inexpensive ic relays. Saved money and space, but since I have 4 two way liquid valves, I had to buy a bigger power supply. Here is view of my plumbing.
Maybe it's my false bottom, but I couldn't get enough liquid in the MT with the false bottom in to do a 5 gallon mash. It barely came above the false bottom and certainly wasn't enough tot soak the grain. I ended up making a copper "ring" manifold with really small holes drilled in the bottom to...
Here is a close up of the plumbing system...also a link to the gallery where you can see all the pics.
