    Wifey's Suggestion

I have sneaking suspicion that this is going to taste like the slobber of "Strangebird's" picture...

    Wifey's Suggestion

Thanks for all of the replies! I didn't want to start a dispute though.... just wanted to see if anyone had tried the "frankenbier" route and what success/failure they may have had. I think I will try the test with something close to the one posted above and back off on the hops even more since...

    Maggots

I would have just thought, "Tequila = Worm;...... Beer = Maggots......Good times and kindness.....

    Wifey's Suggestion

Much thanks for the reply's and I think she should know about the "mugwort" since we are in the process of trying.... I am not "keen" enough to know how much LME or DME to use and what to use as a "specialty crush" for the initial boil. Thanks again

I know I have whined about this before ..BUT

Had the same"problem" and an ole' Hippie friend of mine suggested that, and I quote. "Tell the lazy a$$ bastage, if you buy the ingredients, help me (show you) how to brew a batch of "self-reliance".... and most dreadfully, help me clean up afterward; I would be more than glad to assist." It...

    Wifey's Suggestion

Jon..... I tried that route already and got the infamous.."who is picking the beer...., you wanted me to pick a recipe....blah...blah...blah" ..... I appreciate the quick reply and agree. :)

    Wifey's Suggestion

Not really a beginner's question, but I am trying to get the wife more into brewing and let her "pick" some ingredients to make her maiden voyage into the Land'O Wort. If anyone has a recipe remotely close to this list, you should be tarred and feathered:p Anyhow here is the ingredient list and...

    Converted Keg/Mashtun question

Very good idea! I think i will try the wing-nuts, SS of course. What is a good FB for this application and by good I mean sturdy. I left the all-grain for a few years after sampling a friends extract and got kinda busy with work, but now I am back and want to finish the system I started 3 years...

    Converted Keg/Mashtun question

Thanks Bobby, I didn't take that into account, I just thought the weight of the mash would hold it down. Going to have to re-think some things now. If I would place a nipple with holes drilled in it and thread a cap on top top of the FB and thread that into the nipple in the bottom?

    Converted Keg/Mashtun question

I am still experimenting with the heat trace, which a pipe-fitter friend of mine gave me. Basically it is 75 foot of extension cord wrapped with a SS mesh and I attached it around the keg from bottom to top. It is supposed to get up to 172F, so I am thinking with that and insulation that I...

    Converted Keg/Mashtun question

I have searched and searched and can not find anyone who has just drill/cut a hole in the bottom of a keg and welded a sleeve, be it 3/8 " or 1/2" and just plumbed straight out instead of going with a dip tube and having to siphon. ( I know a lot of guys use pumps) However, I am skeptical for...

    Simple Malt Extract recipe

WLP001 California Ale Yeast is a good all-around yeast and with the smaller sized batch you are making I would just pitch the tube "by instructions on vial" without any starter and roll with it. just me opinion.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just stumbled across this post and would like to make a batch myself. Could anyone point me to a recipe for a 3 gal batch using DME ? or is DME not recommended ? Much appreciated!
