    Hank III

Trash you say? How about happy and thankful to live the way they want, instead of what "Hollywood" or "The Norm" thinks is trash.... Obviously the Ozarks didn't teach you anything about living. Not trying to be an A$$ but damn man, these people are the most grateful and friendly people on earth...

Where are the mechanical engineering jobs?

If you are still looking and want to stay "close" to DC, GrafTech International is looking to expand operations and accepting resumes for numerous positions at our Clarksburg, West Virginia plant and our plant in Columbia, Tennessee. Please visit...

It's official, I'm having heart surgery on Feb 18th...wow, it's real now.

Rev, My family and friends are praying for you tonight and until you are back here giving your much needed advise. It is now more evident that ever that God works in mysterious ways! As I set here typing this evening, my father is in the ICU recovery after having open surgery to replace an...

    Immersion Chilling Question(s)

First off, Thanks for the help and grate advice over the years!.... I have quite a few years experience under me belt with both all-grain and extract brewing and have made some wonderful beers. As I browse through the posts I see a lot of people just plopping their immersion chillers in the...

A small piece of homebrew history to remind us...

Not sure if I am "that" old but the first computer I remember was my friends TRS-80 and some cassette tapes that would let us " program" Dungeons of Daggorath!

1st Timer.. and I went all grain

Maybe I missed someone posting this in a prior post but, you never really give primary fermentation long enough to just poop out, you should have kept it in the fermenter for at least 4 weeks if not more. For that recipe I would have let it go for two months at least. I know you are probably...

How will this simple recipe turn out?

So you are going from 1 gallon kits to All-Grain.....You the man! Looks like a foolproof recipe to me and keep making it with slight adjustments to your recipe and find a nice "House Beer" that is simple to make and easy to keep in the pipe.

    Why do 10 gallon batches?

Cause I can't do 15 gallons at this time!
  9. whiskey_pickle

Which of these is the better kit?

I too am partial to my LHBS but the only one within 50 miles of me is only open on Fridays from around 11AM to 6PM and some days it is kinda hard to get there before or after work. I would love to do all of my shopping local, but until we get a shop that has regular business hours, I have no choice.

    Best Micro Brew

Too bad the brewpub was sold to a new owner; but West Virginia Brewing Company used to have the best brown pale ale named Appalachian Ale" or "Appy Ale" to the locals. I attended a few club meetings there and was given the recipe but it never came out anything close to the original. Damn I miss...

    my valve popped off

OK, that is the three piece airlock....I would just spray it down with some Starsan or your sanitizer of choice and replace it and don't forget to relax.

    I forgot the hops

.......If this is a 5 Gallon brew? I want to know if you meant 15 oz or 1.5 oz?

    My freezer smells toxic

Drop a few of the moisture bags from Lowes (or equivalent) into the freezer to keep the mold forming condensation at bay. Worked for me.

    my valve popped off

Damn! You guys ate fast or I have had to many Apfelwiens tonight!

    my valve popped off

Not sure what you mean by a "valve"? Do you mean the rubber stopper or something entirely different? If your stopper blew out, just sanitize it and push it back in. Again, not sure the first post stated how long it has been off.... Nothing to worry about if it has been less then a day as the CO2...

Which of these is the better kit?

I would check out Northern Brewer .com for you first kit.. I am not employed or know anyone that is employed there, just a very satisfied customer. I have been ordering there for 7 years and these guys are great. super cheap shipping as well! for a beginner kit, I would suggest their Cream Ale...

When you drop the chiller in...

However, I like to do late additions of hops at flameout and the chiller gets in my way. This is how I found that Starsan does the job just as good as boiling dirty copper in my precious wort.

    DFH Score!

I am not going to read all of these posts again, but I think someone mentioned this..... My local grocery store sells BMC kegs and asks for a $35 deposit. After 4 months I take the keg back to the grocery store and I am told that the deposit is only good for 90 days and I can't get my deposit...
