    all amarillo ipa

An amarillo APA is my favorite and house APA. I use 84% 2 Row, 8% Crystal 40L and 8% Carapils. I bitter at 60 minutes to 20 IBU with Amarillo, add 20 IBU at 30 minutes and 10 IBU at 10 minutes. I then dry hop with 2 OZ for 5 days for 5 gallons, all Amarillo hops. Jim

    Mash&Boil vs Robo Brew

This is a perfect boil in my opinion. I'll assure you that boil will have at least a 10% boil-off rate. Some think if you don't have a huge violent boil and boiling off 30% it's not really a boil. I digress, to each their own I guess.

AB InBev minority holder in PicoBrew?

Hmm, you didn't read close enough. Here's the next to last paragraph from link 2: "It’s unclear whether or not the company will look to design an in-home beer production system, but it’s worth noting that Anheuser-Busch, via its ZX Ventures “disruptive growth” division...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Try that same test with water at mash temperatures and recirculating at mash volumes. I think you'll see a difference. Also, temps in the grainbed are somewhat misleading. Through many trials, my most accurate temps are taken just as the wort leaves the mash tun during recirculation. Jim

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

First I've heard of a newer model. Any idea what will be new? I was hoping a controller with US units that current owners could upgrade. Jim

Help: Brewha BIAC or "traditional Electric Brewery build"

iPhonedylan, glad you're still brewing and now looking at these systems. I went through the same planning stages and had many questions and completed many hours of research. I spec'ed and built a system, 10 gal of finished brew, that is something of a Brew-In-A-Kettle. I'll post a link to the...

    Disappointed in iOS brewing apps

Ah yes, the old Ford/Chevy analogy. :) Diversity is what makes the world interesting. I look at the BA database structure the same as iTunes. All my "parent" recipes are stored in the master library. From here, every batch I've created from the parent recipe is listed under the parent recipe and...

    Disappointed in iOS brewing apps

Interesting how two users can have completely different opinions of the same product. I'm a long time Mac user and found BeerAlchemy so mac like and user friendly. The ability to sync from my mac to iphone/ipad was amazing for me. Again, for me, it was the most logical and user friendly of all...

    Disappointed in iOS brewing apps

I've tried them all. Trust me on this one, BeerAlchemy is the creme de la creme when it comes to iOS brewing applications. The UI is friendly and logical in it's design. Very Mac like if you will. The only short coming to the app is no integrated brewing timers. Beersmith and IB2 on iOS are...

    Brewing software for ipad

I use and enjoy BeerAlchemy 2.x. For me, it's the best UI of all, very mac-like and the workflow just makes since. However, the one thing it lacks is timers. For the life of me I can't understand why they don't add mash/boil timers to this product. Also, I suggest you read this thread...

    My eBIAB single-vessel build

klaiguy - I have never had a scorching issue. I use a 4500 watt 240v ULWD element. I use a blichmann false bottom that is welded to a 9 gal Bayou Classic SS kettle. We cut the bottom off the BC kettle leaving about a 1" lip on the bottom to weld the Blichmann false bottom to. Never had a stuck...
