    Carbonating in Plastic Vs Glass

I'm about to bottle my first Pecan Porter this Sunday (can't wait!) and I plan on using 12 1/2 liter fliptop bottles (my favorite) and 8 1 liter plastic bottles that came with my Mr. Beer kit. My main question, and I'm sure it's not that big of a deal, is will I notice any difference in flavor...

    Keeping the fermentation warm

Yeah I'm completely confused by the temperature controller. Call me lazy but I don't want to construct anything. I just want to buy something and have it already set up for me. Basically plug and play, that's it. Please make this simpler for me. EDIT: Come to think of it, don't think there is...

    Keeping the fermentation warm

*Cough* Um yeah that doesn't sound like an "on a budget" way to keep things cool over the summer. Any other suggestions? During the summer we keep it at about 75 in the house. What would be a better brew instead then?

    Keeping the fermentation warm

I have it stored in a dark closet. It's been a little chilly the past week. Seems the temp gauge says 65 degrees on the temp gauge. Hope I didn't ruin it. First batch I've done using grains and hops. I feel that I'm going to be making a lot of Ales in the future (my favorite type) and with...

    Keeping the fermentation warm

Ok thanks for the info. The temp gauge on the side of the fermenter is well within the Ale range as well.

    Keeping the fermentation warm

Hmmm I think I'm using an SafAle S04. EDIT: Just did a search myself and found this. "Optimum temp: 64°-75° F" So guess I'm in the clear.

    Keeping the fermentation warm

I just brewed my first batch of Pecan Porter and it's in the first stage of fermentation. This past week, the weather has been perfect keeping the house at a nice 72 - 74 Fahrenheit which is what the batch calls for. Just last night we had a cold front move in and dropped the temps in the house...

How much priming sugar in 24oz bottles?

I have a 5 gallon kit coming any day now in the mail and it's coming with a carbonation bucket. I'm sure a couple more days of fermentation can wait.

How much priming sugar in 24oz bottles?

Could I siphon the beer out, clean out the fermentation keg and use that as a 'bottling bucket?'

How much priming sugar in 24oz bottles?

Guess I should have mentioned I'm using the Mr. Beer brewing kit (last batch I'm making till I get my 5 gallon kit in the mail). They don't come with a bottling bucket.

How much priming sugar in 24oz bottles?

Pretty straight forward question that I can't seem to find a straight answer. I have a Oktoberfest brew that is ready to bottle. Problem is, the bottles I want to use are 24oz. My chart says for 22oz bottles, use 1 1/2 tsp. My guess is use 1 3/4 tsp for 24oz bottles? The bottles I got are the...

    filling Sanke kegs

Thank you so much for answering my questions. I've got a plan now.

    filling Sanke kegs

Thank you Mkringii for clarifying that. One last question, kegging beer, you have to use CO2. You can't add priming sugar to the keg and let the yeast create the co2 like in a bottle?

    Finally and answer. Appreciate it.

    filling Sanke kegs

No I meant as in brewing in small portions. I can see the confusion but that's one way to kill your business before starting it.

    filling Sanke kegs

I meant a sanke keg. More than likely made of stainless steel. So technically I was right.

    filling Sanke kegs

I didn't steal them so not my problem. Besides, a deposit on those are over a hundred dollars. Can get one of those reconditioned kegs for cheap. Just want to know if at all possible.

    filling Sanke kegs

Hey Yall, new here, first post. Got a question that has been on my mind. I just got started micro brewing and I'm getting myself ready to go big. I'm making plans to start kegging and getting the necessary equipment. My question has to do with steel kegs. You know the ones you get for those...
