    What should I do?

Btw, its sitting in primary so I hope the lees doesn't bother it. If I don't see any more bubbles coming from it can I go ahead and take off the airlock and just cap it until I get enough bottles?

    What should I do?

I have a cider that is ready to be bottled, the only problem is I don't have any bottles. Would it be ok to put the cider in a throughly cleaned and empty plastic juice container? Is there a harm in doing this? Thanks for letting me know about any options available.

    Any deals?

I'm in Nac Tx, Bigfoot. Depending on what it is and its condition I'd be willing to buy it from you. I'll have to check craigslist whatnot, too.

    Any deals?

Hey guys I was just wondering if you know of any good deals on carboys and whatnot. I don't have lots of money(who does) to purchase a couple of carboys so I was wondering if any of you know of a away of getting around buying a couple of 20 dollar containers cheaper.

    Any Suggestions?

Alright, I'm having a little gathering in about a month and a half, but I don't have enough of my alcoholic beverage for the evenings event. I would like to brew it, so does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should brew? It doesn't really matter what is brewed they will be impressed...

    What am I gonna do?

Oh, awesome. So then I guess the reason for racking more times is just to "filter" out all the lees?

    What am I gonna do?

Thats good to hear. It just means one week longer to wait. >_<

    What am I gonna do?

Its time for me to put my cider in a secondary, but I don't have another carboy. I'm waiting on it, but if things go the way they always seem to go with me, its not going to be here for another week. Is there any harm in it staying in primary for an extra week? Or is it possible to transfer the...

    Carboys/fermenters

Hehehe, not the smartest thing to do, but probably hilarious if you're in the right mood. Yeah, better bottles do sound like the best of both worlds. In fact I don't think I've ever really heard anything negative about them.

    Carboys/fermenters

What do you guys prefer? Glass carboy, Better bottle, or the (food grade)plastic buckets? What are your reasons for your preference?

    Recipe any good?

awesome, thanks for the help. Yeah, I figured that that recipe was going to taste like junk. I'll definitely have to try one of these recipes.

    Recipe any good?

I found this recipe on the web and I was wondering what you guys think of it. Looks really simple, but I don't have very much faith in it. Do you guys think I should try it? 1 gallon unfiltered apple juice 1/2 tsp bread yeast (eg. Fleishman's or Res Star) 4-6 cups brown and/or white sugar...

    cider questions

Alright lets see. I have a glass jug and I am using bottled juice. ^_^ So basically its ok to switch from the balloon to a decent airlock in the middle of fermentation. It's just bad for it to be exposed to O2 for a long/constant period of time. The racking will be to a secondary and I assume...

    cider questions

I found a really simple recipe for cider online so I decided to try it out. For the airlock he said you could use a balloon with a small hole in it, which fell off on the first or second day. Now it is working fine and I can see a bunch of small bubbles being produced from the yeast. Do I need...

    First brew ever

Ok so I took Yooper chick's advice and started with a cider. I was using a balloon for the airlock and today when I went to check on it, the balloon had come off. It couldn't have been more than two hours, is my brew lost? Is there a more sure fire way so this doesn't happen? p.s. - I am...

    First brew ever

Oh, no worries, I understand completely. I'd rather you ask me and make sure than let minors flood where they aren't supposed to be. Yeah, I doubt there's a home brew center in Nacogdoches. Is there a specific online store that you prefer over others?

    First brew ever

nope, I'm not underage. I just don't go to liquor stores. I buy my alcohol at the supermarket and whatnot. It's a lot closer than anything else were I live.

    First brew ever

Cool I'll check out the wine recipe. Well, actually I was sharing my interest in making alcoholic beverages with my roommate and the next time I saw him he had come back from the supermarket with some of the ingredients ^_^ He got the easy stuff but couldn't find any of the more essential...

    First brew ever

Awesome. Yeah, a one gallon would be quite a bit smarter to start out with. I didn't know mead took that long to produce. If you think that 3 week mead recipe is alright than I'll stick with it, but now I'm alittle skeptical about whether it would be any good. For future what are the faster...

    First brew ever

Thats right, I've never made any type of alcoholic beverage. I figured I might as well start with a mead ^_^ I'm really trying to be cheap because 1 I don't have money and 2 I'm not sure if I'm going to like brewing(I sure hope I do). So I'll probably use a plastic 5 gal. water jug..I know...
