    Relay Question - SSR vs. others

    Can anyone tell me whether I can use this: http://www.grainger.com/product/SCHNEIDER-ELECTRIC-Enclosed-Power-Relay-1DPP6 ...In the place of a pair of SSRs, for switching a 4500 watt heating element with a 12vdc output? Would it function correctly? Would it wear out faster? Thoughts on...

    It's official starting my own brewing business!

    So, where in Minnesota are you!? I think there are a helluva lot of us in MN that would like to meet you, hear more & have a beer. Besides the obvious entertainment & comraderie... The snow is getting deep & stories like this become necessary/legendary around here, in the dead of winter.

    Lessons from a BJCP Competition Rookie

    @biereblanche Thanks! I hadn't actually considered the "reconciliation" or "mini-Best Of Show" aspects. Out of curiosity... Conditioning grain == awesome.

    If done correctly, you won't have rusting issues, because the husks will have soaked up the moisture, before you've ground your grain. Basically, it makes the husks somewhat leathery or pliable & makes them more resistant to tearing. Consequently, they are more intact & able to be better...

    Conditioning grain == awesome.

    Typically, I crush the night before brewing. I never crush directly into my tun. I always crush into a bucket, lined with a bag. I found this method to be a good idea, on two occasions... Once, a bolt fell out of my mill base & dropped into the grain. With the bag, I could easily reach...
