    Bottle Bombs

Seems like an infection to me. I had the same thing happen while bottling ,y second batch. I accidentally touched the bottling wand to the side of the bucket near the end of a hundred bottle session. I set those bottles aside and sure enough they foamed over like crazy. After that I moved to...

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

Update on this topic - I went out and purchased a dish washing thing that holds soap and has a sponge on the end that is great for washing dishes and fits well in a beer glass. I filled it with Dawn liquid soap and use it only for my beer glasses. After I use a glass it goes the dishwasher. I...

What are the options you like or wish you had on your brew stand and why?

Outside, thanks for sharing! On your tippy, did you use the hinged square frame sized to the keg and bolted like Bobby M's or did you go belt around the keggle? And... did you do it on all kegs or just the MLT and BK? Bottom drain on the MLT? I read up on it. Seems like a pretty neat...

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

I tried the baking soda and I think I am still getting on off taste. Does baking soda leave a residue? I used a bit of baking soda and a glass brush. I may have not rinsed well enough. The best result for with the least work so far has been the Magic Eraser after a quick rinse with water.

What are the options you like or wish you had on your brew stand and why?

Using what you mentioned, how satisfied are you with your ability to repeat the quality of your beer or make what you want. I miss my targets occasionally, but still like what I make. Most times I can narrow it down to something I did or didn't do. I am hoping to have less to monitor and...

What are the options you like or wish you had on your brew stand and why?

I am hoping it will outlast me so my son can take it and make beer for me when I can't anymore! :mug:

What are the options you like or wish you had on your brew stand and why?

Suthrncomfrt1884, Thanks for sharing. Your system looks very impressive. Stainless is the way I am going to go. The Auber controllers, I have read enough on to understand the choice. I really like the dual check on the temp for the mash and HLT. I do use camlocks now with silicone...

What are the options you like or wish you had on your brew stand and why?

Thanks for the input. I do use starters by way of stir plate, dme, and temp control at planned fermentation temps. I also have a temp controlled water bath for fermentation temp control, + or - a degree. Also, I am very interested in easier cleaning. My experience does not extend beyond...

What are the options you like or wish you had on your brew stand and why?

Let me start this thread by quoting one of my buddies. "Don't bother! Just buy your beer. You can't make it as good as breweries can." Being the engineer/Marine that I am, the challenge has been taken. The purpose of this thread is get input on the best options you have tested on your beer...

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

@#$%@&#@$!!!!! I am thinking of a Cee-Lo Green song write now! I almost hit the purchase button on the brush and Beerclean. But, I think I will try using a rinse, Magic Eraser, rinse and rack for air dry. I have used the Magic Eraser product before and was very impressed. Should provide...

    Little Help For A Virgin

The continued bubbling is a good thing! Expect the time interval between bubbles to increase over the next few weeks. I have never dry hopped in the secondary. I like to leave it alone and let it sit on the yeast cake longer. Less work and sanitizing concerns for me. I also like to...

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

Cscade, Are you using the BeerClean Sanitizer also? Don't say it! Yes, I am becoming obsessed with this clean glass thing. I am already imagining premixed containers staged with a gravity feed to faucet sprayers turned upwards that will shoot liquid when you put a glass over them...

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

The beer line in the fridge is 5/16" beer line purchased from more beer. The kegerator with four taps was assembled 5 months ago. All the parts were a Christmas gift from SWMBO.

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

Tektojp, It has been three weeks since the last cleaning of those lines with a water rinse, PBW soak, water rinses, and then star san soak. The tap is a Perlick creamer faucet. I think its clean. LMGK, I went down to the sink and washed a glass fresh out of the dishwasher. I'll be darned if...

    Little Help For A Virgin

I know it may be too late now, but..... (hindsight is always easier with someone else's mess) Considering the amount of headspace you have in that fermentor, you may want to use some Fermcap foam control on the next batch straight into the fermentor. You will need to check directions for use...

Does anyone get a funky dishwasher glass taste on the first beer?

Everyday I get home, strip off the bike gear, and draw a beer from the kegerator. I sit back in my chair and focus on relaxing and begin to think about beer again. Oh, you know. It starts with drinking, then progresses to making, and then ends up with me obsessed with the knowledge available...

    The MaxOut Brew Station

Maxout, amazing system! I am in the market for starting a build and I just go from an awesome build to an unbelievably more awesome build. I feel like a honey bee that doesn't know where to stop. All of you creative people are killing me. I hate all of you. Now I will have to go take a...
