Add more malt in the secondary?

Thanks for the info everyone. After pondering it for a while I decided to leave it alone and call it a session beer. I dont think that I have had a beer in the 3% range since drinking Bud in high school. Thank god I stopped that!!!

Add more malt in the secondary?

So, i recently made a brown ale, all grain, and totally missed the mark on my FG. Not really sure what happened, mash temp off, bad measurement, old grain, ect. The ABV is only going to be 3.8%, its been in the secondary for about a week. I am considering boiling a lb of DME in a quart or two...

    Pumpkin ale

I made the Northern Brewer's "Smashing Pumpkin" all grain kit last fall and it was excellent! I believe the base is an amber ale with pumpkin pie spice and optional fresh pumpkin. I will be making this one again once the local pumpkins are available.

    Agave Wheat

Hello, I am considering adding some Agave nectar to my next batch of hefeweizen. Is this a bad idea? I have read mixed reviews on the web. How would i enter this into my recipe on Beersmith? I dont see it listed as an add-on ingredient. Should I enter it as honey? I am looking for a...

    Creme Brulee Stout

Good idea to use the two 5 gallon fermenters. I'll definately do it that way if I do something like this again. I lost a lot during the blow off from the initial fermentation.

How long to keep Imperial Stout in Secondary?

I made a large starter and had great, overwhelming, fermentation for nearly 2 days. It has been in the secondary for about a week now. Very little to no action in the airlock right now.

How long to keep Imperial Stout in Secondary?

[B]I recently brewed my first high gravity beer, Creme Brulee Stout, which is an Imperial Stout. The recipe I followed did not specify on how long to keep it in the secondary. Does any one have a ball park recomendation? Also, is it necessary to add another dose of yeast? Thanks for the...

    Creme Brulee Stout

    Creme Brulee Stout

Yes, my fermentation went crazy. Put a 1" blow off hose on it and it spewed foam for nearly 2 days. I think I lost more than 1/2 gallon of beer in the process. The little yeasties were happy!

    Aerating your Wort

I am reading lately how important it is to aerate your wort prior to pitching the yeast. I dont have access to an oxygen tank and I am wondering if any one uses one of the drill mounted whips used in wine making to add oxygen. I have one since I make wine too and I was thinking of sanitizing...
