    What am I doing wrong?

The extract kit from William's doesn't identify any of the types of things I'm using, and my experience is too low to figure out what is what yet. The yeast was a Wyeast smack pack, though I don't recall which type off the top of my head. I fermented at around 68° 5gal. I top off with...

    What am I doing wrong?

I keep getting batches that are much higher in ABV than they're supposed to be. This makes the 2nd batch in a row. I'm doing extract kits from William's Brewing. My first 2 went great, the last 2, not so much. The latest is an Imperial IPA. The instructions say my FG should be around...

Colorado Springs brewers, where do you get your CO2?

I stopped by RMB tonight on the way home from work to have a couple pints...I'm out at home....Imperial IPA getting kegged in a few days though. Anyway, 5lb CO2 tank, $18 for a refill...takes a few minutes....you can sit at the bar and have one while waiting.

Tips for prepping for next season?

Thanks guys. We put in a raised garden this year, but I have lots of space around the yard / fence that I was looking to do hops. I appreciate the tips, I'll work on dedicating the space and conditioning soil before the year is out so that I can plant next season.

Tips for prepping for next season?

I've read the wiki and searched here and didn't succeed at finding this. I've just started in this hobby and I intend to plant hops next season. Anyone have any tips for things I can do now to prepare for planting next season or do I just forgot about it until then and plant per the guidance...

    Bottles not carbing up

New guy, so not really any experience other than my instructions say for bottle conditioning to let them sit a week at 65° and then two weeks at 55-60° before putting in the fridge. I believe those temps are more for that type of beer or, just random numbers and reality dictates 60-70 for a few...

    Keezer vs Kegerator

So the goal is to keep is pretty close to freezing temps regardless of fridge / freezer?

    Keezer vs Kegerator

What temp do you keep them at? Maybe that's the answer I'm looking for in why you all go with freezers instead of fridges.

Child Labor and who else is guilty?!?

I brewed up my first batch last week, my 5yr old daughter was all about helping me. She asks every night if I'm going to make beer now so she can help. I think I might have someone to help clean beer bottles! Haha! I'll have to get my wife to take some pictures!

That's the one I just got, happy with it and already buying a couple extra things.

    New

I bought a complete kit from William's Brewing online a couple weeks ago. Arrived early, very easy to set up, use, and so on. My first batch is in the fermenter now and I can't wait to drink it! Already ordered a 2nd extract kit from them to get another one going once I bottle this batch.

The same questions day after day...

I'm brand new here and to the hobby, don't even have a home brew to relax and enjoy while I'm trying to calm any panic I get. Your first post here taught me that there is a wiki, I'll probably spend the rest of my day here at work reading it, haha. Thanks for that first post or who knows how...

    Keezer vs Kegerator

Bumping this thread after searching around on here. Newb to the hobby, first batch is in the fermenter. I never heard of a keezer until I started looking here and I really like the looks of the different builds. I used to have a True kegerator but sold it many years ago. Now I'm assuming I'm...

    Secondary Fermentation

Is there a point where you leave it in a fermenter too long? It seems that you can remove / bottle it to early, but what if you let it sit too long? My first batch is in the fermenter now.

    Anyone brewing now?

I just started my first ever batch, an American IPA from a kit. I brewed it on Saturday night and it's been sitting in it's nice dark room fermenting for a few days now. Can't wait to see if it turns out as tasty as it smells!

    Hello, newb here!

After some reading around on here I figured it's okay to pop the top for a quick look. So I just got home and snapped these pics. This is after about 67 hours in the fermenter. I think this is normal looking, though I don't know for sure. Actually smells pretty good too.
