New brewchick from The LBC... Howdy!

    I think that's Long Beach/Compton... but I'm not positive.

    Dogs

If it makes you feel better, I have never seen a dog obstruct on candy wrappers. That being said, eating an entire bag of snickers will make anyone feel sick for a day or two. :(

COMPLETELEY NEW, What kit to start with

I will also second what a few others have said about the glass. Make sure you really consider whether or not glass is what you want to use. I spent the extra money on getting glass, and then realized after my first batch that I hate using it. I'm a giant klutz, and for the accident prone, that...

COMPLETELEY NEW, What kit to start with

What do you mean "If you can?". You can do anything. At it's base level, brewing is just following a simple set of steps and paying attention to details. Don't let it scare you. There's very little to lose by trying to make what you want to make. :D

Is being an extract brewer such a bad thing?

For those with more space constraints, I've actually rigged up a set-up similar to Yooper's cooler thing. It does a fantastic job, and while not as precise as a fridge, makes maintaining temp much easier than a traditional swamp cooler without taking up any more space.

Is being an extract brewer such a bad thing?

:off: Not entirely true, but I get where you are going with that. Taste receptors do or do not respond to certain chemicals (cats, for example, do not detect sweetness - they lack the receptor), but the perception of taste is incredibly subjective. That's why I usually ignore anything that...

    Cats

We need more cats on these boards! Here's Matisse. She really likes beer.

    GOOD on Netflix STREAMING?

I'm actually digging Being Human right now. (US version)

Is being an extract brewer such a bad thing?

You got a source for this information? I'm always a bit skeptical when people start talking about nebulous chemical reactions, and my google-fu is failing me at finding the answer.

Things about your co-workers that annoy you

People who pretend to know what they're doing, even if when they don't. If you don't know how to do something, just ASK. No one will get angry if you ask. If you just do it, and you screw it up, then people are going to be upset.

How long did you brew extract kits?

I did exactly 2 extract kits, then started doing partial mash. I haven't switched to AG, mostly because of space constraints. My stove can't handle the larger boils, and HWMO is doing.... something?... in the garage that makes it mostly unusable for things like setting up a burner or a mash tun...

    Dogs

That poem always makes me tear up. We keep a framed copy of it in our "Rainbow Room" at the clinic. Please know you gave her the best things a dog could ever have - a happy life and a peaceful passing. I've had the honor of helping many dogs find their rest, and I truly believe they...

Besides fermenting things, what are your other hobbies?

Yup. Most places that raise sheep and alpacas will happily sell you the fleece.

    Dogs

Big giant doufus, really. He's super sweet, thinks he's a lap dog, and not particularly bright or useful at anything other than sitting on the couch and chasing things. Sighthounds were really bred for chasing things. And theoretically, then tearing them to shreds, but he's probably better...

Besides fermenting things, what are your other hobbies?

I actually do a lot of textile arts. I spin my own yarn, usually starting with the raw fleece and processing it myself, and then either knit or weave with the results. I'm also a big outdoors person, and am finally getting back into running and cycling. We've got these fantastic forest...
