Tips you would like to have known when you first started brewing?

Thankfully I read about this before I tried to make my first all grain batch! I had to reassemble my boil kettle 4 times to get it water tight. Last night it held all the water I put into it for 90 mins without a leak. Moving on to the next step now!

What I did for beer today

I put my boil kettle togeather the other day but it was leaking, so today I tightened the nut on the thermomater. I'm pretty sure it's good to go! I've got it in the bathtub right now full of water, 20+ mins in and still no leaks.

    Temperature control

The temperature is that of the wort, not the room it is in. The wort will always be warmer then the room it is in. You will want to keep your temperature as stable as possible. There will be a range that the yeast you are using will be happy in, but there will be an optimum temperature that you...

Looks really good man! Do you have a picture of it in a glass?

    IPA too light in color?

Your glass looks within the range of the color of an IPA. If you want it darker you can adjust the grain bill and use something darker. If you want it to be more hoppy just add more hops to your next batch. Remember what you did last time and tweek it into something you really like.

Know where I can order 7/16" foodsafe silicon tubing?

Thanks! A ton of stuff is in the mail. When I get everything I'll put togeather what I can and if I can't figure it out I'll get you all pics or whatever you all need to help. I'm so excited to finally get a mash tun I'm jumping into it before I have all the pieces.

I'm building my first mash tun and I have a question

Awesome information guys, this really helps me. I have heard that using vinyl supply lines will make the beer taste like plastic. I'm going all silicon for my lines, but do you think it would be ok to use a vinyl valve outside of the mash tun to connect the two lines or would that give my beer...

Know where I can order 7/16" foodsafe silicon tubing?

The 7/16" tube was from the specs from a video, I'm going to assemble what I can with my mash tun over the next few days and I'll report back if I get stuck. The video said that the tubes are 7/16" and I can't find a supply line that is wide enough to fit around a 7/16" tube. Do you think a 1/2"...

Know where I can order 7/16" foodsafe silicon tubing?

By inside the filter I mean what is on the inside of the modified supply line I'll be using to filter the liquid. Inside the mesh exterior of the supply line the specs say to use a 7/16" tube that attaches the filter to the bung. Honestly I think the best thing to do would probably be to get my...

Know where I can order 7/16" foodsafe silicon tubing?

Thanks, it might not exist. The size was originally for vinyl and I wanted to do it with food grade silicon. What size tubes do you use for the inside of your mash tuns for inside the filter?

Know where I can order 7/16" foodsafe silicon tubing?

I'm finally building a mash tun and switching to all grain but I only know of a couple places online where I can order tubing, none of which have the right size. For my mash tun build I need 7/16" foodsafe silicon tubing. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be awesome! Cheers!

I'm building my first mash tun and I have a question

So the video that I am basing my mash tun on says to use 7/16" tubing to go from inside the modified 16" Stainless steel supply line through the bung to the valve. The problem I have is all of the supply lines I can find on Amazon are also 7/16" thick, so is there a trick to getting the tube...

    Heart surgery beer

You should always drink beer like it might be your last. By the sounds of it this stuff can't stop you, so plan out how you're going to enjoy that wine! Anyways here's mine: Pre: Dortmunder or Helles Post: ....More Dortmunder or Helles!

Little white bits floating on my wine

I've never made kiwi wine but it sounds good. I really have no expieriance with making this stuff so those white bits might just be a natural byproduct. I'd suggest you leave it alone until you think it is done fermenting and if at that point it has an off smell or taste try again. At this point...
