Finally brewed my first all grain batch! I have a question about mash temperature though.

Thanks for all the help guys! I racked to secondary today and it defiantly smells like a combination of alcohol and bananas! I was hoping it would end up tasting like bananas so I couldn't be happier! It's a nice blond color too! I'll post the FG when I know what it is too! So a lower mash...

How do you move water around from one vessel to another if you are doing a 10 or a 20 G batch?

I just did my first all grain batch and I did a 5.5 G batch. Due to the amount of work involved I'd love to start doing 10 G batches but I won't be able to lift the boil kettle above the mashtun and pour water into it if it's full of 13 Gs of water. How do you guys do it?

Finally brewed my first all grain batch! I have a question about mash temperature though.

I mashed in a converted cooler and I spent a lot of time string in the grain on a cold day and my reading of 134 was after I was done striing. Also, I poured my mash water into the mashtun. My primary is going crazy right now and it smells like fermentation so I got some sugars out of it at...

I have some swing tops and some that require caps right now.

Should I let all of my water that I need for brewing sit overnight with campden in it?

So by weight it would be .22 gs for 10 gallons? So it literally is just a pinch.

How much dextrose do I add to a 500ml bottle to prime it?

Thanks! That makes a lot more sense then what I was thinking!

How much dextrose do I add to a 500ml bottle to prime it?

I will be making a weissbier. So half a teaspoon for 355 ml bottles and a full one for 500 mls? 500 mls is only about 50% more volume then 355 why would I double the sugar?

Where should I get an inkbird in Canada?

I'm going to be getting a chest freezer and an inkbird but I want to buy the inkbird from a Canadian retailer does anyone know who has them in stock? Also with an inkbird is it really as simple as plugging it into the wall and connecting the freezer to the inkbird and putting the prob into the...

Should I let all of my water that I need for brewing sit overnight with campden in it?

That's exactly what I meant! Thanks! How much of the loose campden should I add to 10 Gs though? A teaspoon? After I add it I'll need to stir it in and wait 5 mins right?

How much dextrose do I add to a 500ml bottle to prime it?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll use a teaspoon of table sugar when I get 500 ml bottles. It looks like i'll have to bottle my first batch in 330 ml bottles though, so what does that work out to in terms of table sugar per bottle to prime them? 2/3s of a teaspoon each? I'm pretty worries...

When should I whirlpool for a clearer beer?

Someone said that they do a whirlpool at 15 mins to flameout. Do you just do one or keep stirring until flameout?

Should I let all of my water that I need for brewing sit overnight with campden in it?

If there is not much of a difference when you add capden then why are you adding it? Does it just make your beer 10% better or something? I have loose capden anyone know how much in measuring spoons is the equivalent of a tablet?

About to do my first all grain batch can you guys tell me if my plan is right?

Thanks everyone, you've made me understand this process! Should my lautering water be the same temp as the strike water?
  18. Beer Viking

About to do my first all grain batch can you guys tell me if my plan is right?

Ok great! When I lauter should I drain it off right away or should I let it soak up the sugars for a bit and then drain it into my kettle?

Should I let all of my water that I need for brewing sit overnight with campden in it?

Thanks guys! I appreciate the reply! Would I notice much of a difference if my flavor of my beer if I use campden? If I have powered campden how much should be used for 10 Gs of tap water?
