    Brutus Build Question

Gawdt dang fellas! I try and stay out of these threads because yall make me blush! :) Yea, so in short of a lucky find like I had on my SS ASCO's, I think we have all pretty much played them out over the years... I think ASCO owes me something! :) They are getting VERY hard to find now a...

    Brutus Build Question

I almost wet myself every time I see this rig!

    Stainless Camlocks review

Well my friend, I would say to give it a go as is and see if you like it! You just never know... It may work well for you! I had done several batches and figured this out on Brutus. Actually it was one of the driving forces in me putting everything in the lids so I could swap everything with...

    Stainless Camlocks review

I am curious how that recirculation arm is working out for you... Many years ago I discovered that that configuration didn't work so well for me during cooling wort... So basically you will be returning cooled wort back to the bottom of the pot and it is instantly returned to the chiller by way...

    Hopster Hopscreen

Amazing! This looks great! I am doing the exact same thing! Just waiting on my mesh. For my tube I actually am using a cut section from an old defunct corny keg for mine. My pal who is getting my mesh (forget the size but it is VERY fine for pellet hops) has some process where they seam and...

    St. Patrick's of Texas

It's been a while, but I have purchased several things from St Pats... You have to know the code word. WINE. DO NOT mention ANYTHING to do with beer. Prices were not that bad back in the day but even then if she found out you were a homebrewer, seems her nose went up in the air at that point.

    Damn it!

Yes my friend... So you have discovered inadvertently why I have the analog thermometers in my pots. You are measuring the mean outlet temps, which is a great indication of well, the mean outlet temps! :) The overall temp of the whole volume is what you are concerned with, and they should be...

    Damn it!

It will act a bit differently with the mash indeed... Mine will usually hold dead on within a degree or maybe two. Usually I may set my set-point to a degree below my actual. My friend, I don't think we can get that precise here though. I know of no system that will hold to within a degree or...

    Damn it!

This depends on a few factors. Where are you taking your temps and are you recirculating during this process? There is no way to precisely control static water that is being heated.

Looking like a GREAT build my friend! Keep the pics coming our way!

Help me wire my March pump to switch

Indeed... And for future use, it would be great if you posted up a little diagram of what you think you might have done wrong my friend. These are great little learning experiences for everyone here. What you have learned now, (what not to do) may teach others. I have an idea of how you might...

Help me wire my March pump to switch

Have to agree with Yuri every bit on this one... Man, a full understanding before starting is a must my friend... Nothing wrong with getting help before you take on a task using the joose! That stuff kills quite readily!

    The Kitchen Sink

I knew there were others who have used something like this before... I recall something from many years ago with some system using a three-bay sink for each process. I think there is even one for sale from some company now... These things are just begging to be made into a brewery!

    The Kitchen Sink

There is no reason this would not work! In fact, this was going to be a Brutus Ten at one time! Still, there are a LOT of possibilities with something like this. I still have ideas to use a sink like this. Right now, I would like to have at least a one bay just to set it up as a "water...

    Thermowell for Love controller?

Indeed... It is usually the tube that is the real problem once you get the vinyl off...

    Thermowell for Love controller?

Humm, you have me curious now! So I went and took my dial calipers and did a check. I am reading pretty much at .250. A spot or two at maybe .252... But in checking, it reminded me of another thing I had a problem with. I believe you and I have the same thermowell although mine came from...

Any reason to not use 80/20 in my brew rig?

Claudius is exactly right. It really is about design. I would not build a Brutus frame as I have designed it from al, mainly from the standpoint of heat conductivity. The whole frame would practically get hot... That was the real reason I recommended against it in the article. But you can easily...

    Thermowell for Love controller?

That is correct! I just removed the vinyl coating with a small fine file. I found a shiny brass new probe underneath that fit a standard corny dip-tube type thermowell perfectly.

    Brillo Pad scratches Glass

Got that right! I've used some stuff that would melt the tarmac under my feet... That's why I finally started using the AVON... Besides, it smells so feminine! :)

    Brillo Pad scratches Glass

Found out a LONG time ago in the aviation industry... To remove sticker goo, grab some of the wife/GF's AVON skin so soft. Soak the sticker goo for a bit and wipe it up with a paper towel... I even got it approved to use on the Space Station for MLI removal. Stuff works!
