Building Brutus 10 to fit Boilermaker Kettles

Ha! :) I know you weren't dissing... Just keep in mind that I have spent the better part of the last 5 years, and actually the 5 years before that with, well, Brutus 5, trying to help people make a BETTER Brutus than I own. So no one here knows that better than I do my friend... And I am NOT...

That boil looks GREAT to me... Over the years, the term "vigorous boil" has really been taken out of context... So, closer with the burner to the pot, less gas, = good brewday! And remember, I know it may take just a tad longer than maybe you expected, but that's why we call it a "brew-DAY" :)...

Keggle vs SS pot vs almighty Boilermaker

Cain't agree more... Still waiting on my three free Blich's to try out! :)

Keggle vs SS pot vs almighty Boilermaker

Indeed I do my friend... It works great for me, but the exact parts that I used are very hard to find at this time... There are so many great iterations of Brutus out there it is impossible for me to say though. Of course this has been the idea all along! Do what you want to do!

Keggle vs SS pot vs almighty Boilermaker

No, that is more like a megapot... It's more like these, and still by the same manufacture, but these are 26 gals and still available from NorthernBrewer... http://www.northernbrewer.com/winemaking/variable-volume-tank-100l.html Actually, I have thought about these a LOT... Much bigger...

Keggle vs SS pot vs almighty Boilermaker

Gotta agree with Bucks here all the way... Yea, I LOVE my kettles... They were the staple from Morebeer, and NB at the time. I bought mine from NB (3ea), and before that, I had bought three from Morebeer... These were VERY nice for the price. They are VERY hard to none to find now... Don't...

Keggle vs SS pot vs almighty Boilermaker

Can't help much my friend except to say that that's why I stuck with the SS pots... They already come with a big hole in the top! :) When the Blich's first came out, he and I conversed about adding the dimensions of his pots to his website as I was getting a ton of questions if they would...

Ah! Now that is a fire my friend! Got your PM... So, take everything I am about to say with a grain of carafa... Because I don't use NG, and everything on my system is low pressure. Seems you are a bit too low on your burner height to me... On Brutus, my tips are exactly two inches below...

    Brutus 10 BYO Plans Changes?

Oh no... Sorry... Yes, if one were worried about the upper frame only being heated, then I would drill a small hole in the bottom of each member of the upper frame. The upper frame is the only part that sees heat really...

    Brutus 10 BYO Plans Changes?

If it is a worry, and to me it is not, then it would be a simple task to drill a bleeder hole here or there. I guess if one were to read the keggle thread one might quit brewing all together. I do not subscribe to it myself... There are just too many frames from many manufactures out there...

    Wood Frame Brutus RIMS Project

Excellent looking build!! I can't wait to see this in action. Please post more pics when the pots come in!

    Brutus 10 BYO Plans Changes?

If you are building from my plans, and you truly have the ten tip low pressure burners, then my tips are 2.25" from the bottom of the pot bottom. If you are not sure, it would be a simple task to set up a burner on a test bed of some sort and fire one of those bad boys off and make sure...

    Moonbeam does BrutusTen!

Yep. She picked out the BCS Barleywine recipe to a tee... Cal Ale WLP 001... OG 115 and today it was down to 28... Wanted to see it a bit lower, but it will sit in the secondary for some time. In any case, it taste pretty dang good for her first batch!
