    pro brewers' flameout procedure

I'm a visual guy - logdrum. Do you think you could show me a pic? I was thinking about turning my diptube sideways. Now, it runs about 5 inches into the keggle, then 90 degrees down for about 3 inches to the bottom. I though about letting it take a 90 to the left from the start and letting...

Best single addition to your brew day procedure

What? You mean you don't like it when your 60 minute boil becomes an accidental 82 minute - oh shi*t! - boil? Did anybody add the 30 min hops? Is the chiller still in the oven?

Brew Pal software in the iTunes App Store

What're the stats for Pacman? I heard he's batting .375 with a pretty great slugging percentage, but I can't remember what position he plays and how he does against southpaws. Does anybody have a Pacman baseball card handy? :cross:

    pro brewers' flameout procedure

I'm loving this discussion (though it appears to be past-tense). I question whether whirlpooling is something that I can do. I have a plate chiller connected to my keggle. The diptube draining the keggle is situated central, and about 1cm off the bottom (hey, that's a few pints that I'm...

Best single addition to your brew day procedure

I got a plate chiller from Duda Diesel for $115 and it's incredible. Even when the tap (hose) water here in Oklahoma is warm, I just drop that thing in ice water and run it wide open and my brew is cold fast. I love it - saves a lot of time.

Start with a free chest freezer, then ? $$$

I'm thinking some more about this. SWMBO very handily vetoed a $400 keezer with a collar, 4 taps, lines, and a regulator because it doesn't match the curtains. She's given me the green light to build a "nice" keezer. By "nice," let me say that Jester and Hop Dog's gorgeous builds would be...

I apologize for the duplicate - everybody, please post replies in the strongest of the three triplet posts - the one with more than one page of replies. Sorry, Bob

    Kegerator Savings Spreadsheet

Dude, give yourself some credit! Pay yourself at least $6.50/hr in labor - that's what they paid me back in the day for loading hay bales onto a trailer. Now, compare bottling hours - I'm being conservative here: 30min to clean and prepare bottles, 15 minutes to siphon to bottling bucket, 1...

wow - that looks good! You have "kegging equipment," is that also the cost of taps and the etc?

Start with a free chest freezer, then ? $$$

Hey gang, Just wondering... I'm trying to compare expected prices of newish equipment to some used stuff. There's lots of cheap chest freezers on the market. If I started there and wanted to have about 4 taps going, how much money am I looking at in the regulator, the taps - all but the...

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

This image should help i have found pin lock kegs to be substantially shorter and slightly fatter than ball locks. people should keep that in mind when ordering and considering how many will fit. you might not need a collar, but you might not be able to get as many in there, either.

    Show us your Kegerator

Hey gang, I'm going to be starting a build for a poolside keg holder, that also serves beer. I've heard them called, kegerators? My question - has anyone ever heard of one? I kid. Does anybody have an outdoor one - and are there special issues that come up? I've thought so far about...

How to double an All Grain Recipe?

Correction If you have a 5 gal batch that calls for 10 lbs, the corresponding 10 gal batch would have 20. If you have a 3 gal batch that calls for 6.75 lbs, the corresponding 10 gal batch would be 22.5.

    Oklahoma Brewers

Hey man, I'm down for a group buy AND a group brew day. I assume you live in OKC? I'm just down the street from TheBrewShopOKC. We have a small group of brewers that meets at my house many Saturdays to brew and drink and play yard games. We're pretty amateur, but do all grain and have the...

    adding coffee

Amen - they're everywhere now. With their obsession for cigarettes and coffee, you might confuse them with the old goth kids of yonder year. Perhaps a study in evolution is in order? Or, is that outside the scope of HBT?
