What are you looking for in a wort chiller?

Generally speaking what features are you looking for in a wort chiller. I'm doing a wort chiller design for my senior project and I'm assembling a list of customer requirements. Part of that process is interviewing prospective future customers. I thought a thread like this would be the...

Entering a contest. What's my style?

Pretty sure this would go in the specialty beer category but I thought I'd get an opinion first. It's a cream ale with additions of ourange peel and vanilla bean. I thought for a second about the spice beer category but I think vanilla and orange are considered flavorings more so than...

    Help! I can't syphon.

Make sure your hose is long enough. I've read that you need at least 5 ft. That's where I was going wrong the first few times. P.S. Once I got a long enough hose I've never needed an autosiphon. Just to give my perspective on the issue.

Stupid Priming Sugar Calculator!!! (Didn't use enough)

I used about 2.8 oz sucrose. There's actually another factor that drove me into paranoid mode. Last night I tried my a beer that I'd bottled for the first time. (This is a different beer) It had been conditioning for 2 weeks so I figured it would be o.k. It's a Dry Irish Stout, so I knew...

Stupid Priming Sugar Calculator!!! (Didn't use enough)

Thanks Guys. I'll bring them upstairs which should be about 70 degrees (a little warmer them the basement). Then I'll relax and have a homebrew.

Stupid Priming Sugar Calculator!!! (Didn't use enough)

Well, I bottled my American Pale Ale this weekend. Looked at the priming sugar calculator on TastyBrew and in my haste instead of using the fermenting temperature I used the beer's current temperature. Since I'd just cold crashed it that was about 40 degrees. Consequently I've gone back...

What do you NOT like about your wort chiller? (Senior Design Project for School)

Entering my final year of Mechanical Engineering College and I'm considering doing a form of improvement on current methods of wort chillers out there for homebrewing. Is there a wort chiller that you use and there's an aspect or feature of it that you wish it had? Or maybe something that it...

Skipping the Bottling Bucket and Racking Straight to Bottles

Good Information Guys. I've still got a couple of weeks till I'll be bottling. I like the idea of bottling from a second carboy. I might give that some thought.

Skipping the Bottling Bucket and Racking Straight to Bottles

Is the yeast settlement you mention the stuff that would have fallen to the bottom of the bucket?

Skipping the Bottling Bucket and Racking Straight to Bottles

I was talking with a friend after listening to an old Homebrew Podcast. We got onto the idea of skipping the bucket. I know you could use the carbonation drops but those seem kind of expensive to spend-thrift like me. I like the idea of measuring out your sugar and boiling it with water...

    WANTED: Bottles. (Cincinnati, OH)

Just getting started and I need some bottles. I've saved a few but thought I'd throw this out there. Maybe you've gone to kegging and don't need bottles or maybe you've just got more than you need and can't bare to pitch them. I can always go dumptster diving or ask around the bars. Or just...
