    Cider Bottle Carb Issue

I'm going to guess you may have answered your question when you said your concentrate was still cold. I think you cold crashed your carbs. Plus, I have gone to using .5 gram of bottling/conditioning yeast per gallon. Works real well.

How many apples did you get a crush for in 2021, in gallons!

It's been three weeks since I last posted so: 71 + 3 = 74 I've also made one gallon for Jack and started another last weekend. Does that count?

Low carbonation in ciders? - with data to share

My bottle carbs are almost always less and slower with S-04. One thing that has made all my bottle carbonation dreams come true is using the gauges that Mylar posted about here and there for my 16.9 oz. empty soda bottle letting it get to about 35psi. I've stopped measuring, but my cider...

    Cheap juice, best?

I've never entered mine, too thirsty. But as another posted the 96 oz. Great Value from concentrate is the cheapest I've found and others I've tried don't come out as well. I use pectin in every batch as well, see results <----- in the picture. Perhaps I was always sloppy, but when I used to...

    Bottle carbing did nothing

I use bottling yeast all the time. https://www.amazon.com/Lallemand-CBC-1-Conditioning-Yeast-gram/dp/B009XUA8L4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=conditioning+yeast&qid=1630340168&sr=8-1

How many apples did you get a crush for in 2021, in gallons!

Damn, I searched for this one two months back. Decided to quit buying and drinking beer and go all cider this year. Been making about a gallon a week, starting around . . . . um . . . er . . . maybe March? Estimate 23, so 23 + 23 = 46

    Apfelwein Bottle Condition Question

    Conditioning/bottling yeast.

Adding apple juice to the yeast cake, then do it again, and again...

Cool. I came here to ask this very question and here it is. Answered. I think I'll just do about 2-3 reuses max as for me the whole thing is being lazy like madscientist. Just to confirm, it does start to change flavor even though I don't waste time. I siphon off to bottling bottle, pour...

Hard Apple Cider: Safale S-04, Nottingham Ale, and Red Star Red Star Premier Blanc Champagne Yeasts

I started some with Nottingham and after almost three weeks, it still needs to clear. And it's still tossing a bubble here and there. EC-1118 seems to be my power yeast. Started a gallon of that last weekend and it is on course to finish (almost done) and then another week to clear before...

How many gallons of Cider in 2020

A bit late, but did another gallon back in August of Great Value w/1c sugar and ~2.5 gr of Nottingham. Tried a bit of conditioning yeast with the 1.5oz of sugar for carbonating, already bottled and in fridge. Turned out Great! 730 + 1 = 731

How many gallons of Cider in 2020

Finally decided to start another batch. Used another 3 qt bottle of Great Value with so little more added as to maybe finally get this to an even number? So a little over 3 qts, 2.2 gram Nottingham, 1-1/3 cup sugar. 333.25 + .75 = 334

    Gravity points for fajc

Just asking a silly question, do you like your ciders to start at 1.004-6? I think that would be hard. Anyways, I'm no good either, but here's a post that might help a tiny bit: Fermenting in store bottle Doesn't say how many gravity points, but he says it adds aoubt 1.5% ABV in one gallon...

    Fermenting in store bottle

Let me guess. You're using WalMart Great Value Apple Juice from concentrate. That's why the juice shelves at Wally World are empty of my go to juice! YOU HOARDER!!! Just kidding. I'll chime in here. My first several batches I fermented right in the plastic bottle, no problem. I'm like...

I don't know what it is, but I'm not sure it's fair to call it cider

Heck, if you've made it this strong already, you're well on your way to making Apple Jack. May as well finish it off like that and do something else for your next batch and make it weaker and for cider.

First timer, so go easy on me.

Adding back the 3/4 cup of juice and putting it into swing tops is just what most do to get some fizz. A lot of folks here also use one used plastic soda bottle and leave them all a room temp for about a week or so until the plastic bottle is real firm to judge 'fizz'. A couple of us have gone...

How many gallons of Cider in 2020

Well, I've been a bit lazy. Sunday, I bottled a gallon that I had started two weeks prior. Didn't take any reading(s), too lazy and so much sanitizer in the air it seems that I didn't make a batch of Starsan. My carboy had been sanitized and sealed after last use, my utensils had just been...

    bottle carbonation

Sneaking a post in from work has it's challenges . . . . and I ramble some. More details for you. My fermentation takes about a week as well. I let it sit 'sur lees' for another week in primary, that helps it clear quite a bit. Then I'll rack into a gallon carboy with some priming sugar...

    bottle carbonation

Ah bottle carbonating. It can be elusive, can it not? Hehe. Sometimes, I have had different levels of carb in the same batch. I've never used drops so I cannot speak to them. Are you only using PET bottles? Me, I use swing tops and then have one used 16oz soda bottle with a pressure gauge...
