What to do with a Mr.Beer?

I recently purchased a ton of bottles and a capper off of craigslist, and the guy threw in a Mr.Beer fermentor thing with it. Is there anything useful that I can do with it? I don't want to just throw it away, then find out it makes an awesome gadget of some sort.

    Hello From Alaska

Hehe, I lived in Palmer and Wasilla. Went to High School at Chugiak. I also miss it, more and more as I get older.

Yet another first AG day today!

Well, fermentation has been at a standstill for a couple of days now. FG looks to be 1.002, which puts me in at 7.83% ABV. That's not quite the daily drinker I was going for, but it tastes great and I can always use a little more alcohol :drunk:

Sam Adams 95 Reserve Triple Bock?

Soy Sauce....I'm glad someone else had the same opinion that I did. I read all kinds of good reviews, and just thought that maybe my pallet wasn't distinguished enough for the stuff.

    Apfelwein blow off

Yeah, mine was a little more full than your fullest carboy. I really need to invest in some of 6.5 gallon better bottles.

    Apfelwein blow off

I used the Montrachet, followed Ed's directions to the "T", and this afternoon when I got home from work....I had an airlock full of apfelwein! My carboy was really sticky too, so I'm guessing it flooded a little. Anyone have this problem with the Montrachet?

    Double Batches?

I'm basically just wanting to do several styles, but with a small kid and SWMBO it's hard to justify spending every Saturday brewing. Thought that knocking out two at once might be a good option.

    Double Batches?

I was just curious how many people brew 2 batches at once? I would figure that as long as you had 2 burners, 2 pots, and 2 mlt that it would cut the time in half required for 2 batches of beer. That sounds nice to me!

    Quad - thoughts?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Quad?

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

I went ahead and started my batch tonight as well. My first AG recipe is Ed's Pale, which was done on Sunday. Now my first non-beer is his Apfelwine. My wife thinks I have a "Man-Crush". So I guess that makes me #3363

What do you think of buying pre-made mash tuns?

I used the plans for the 10gallon Gott Cooler, and it worked awesome. I am so not even close to a DIY I sometimes feel like a girl. My dad never wanted to show me how to do an oil change, "Why when Jiffy Lube is right down the street?" Definitely where I got it from. But the cooler conversion...

    Mashed into greatness?

Congrats man! I did Ed's Haus on Sunday as my first, and I am stoked as well. We should definitely get a swap together! It'd be great to try everyone's first, as well as share mine.

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale - Wow!

I've seen several Celebration ale clone recipes around. Do a search, I'm sure you'd come up with something that has been already proven.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Yeah, I am probably coming into a free IceCream cooler from work. So hopefully I'll have some temp control possibilities for my next batch! What do you use for cold conditioning?

So better off probably just going straight from Primary to Bottles?

    Brew kettle

Turkey fryers are the way to go. You get a big pot, and a kickass burner with it! Mine is right at 90,000 BTU's...sounds like a jet is taking off in my garage at full speed. Single greatest thing I've purchased for my brewing yet!

    fermenting Temps

I've been thinking about putting my carboy in the garage, which also gets very cold at night. I was thinking about putting it into a garbage can or something, filling it up with water to the neck of the carboy, then sticking an aquarium heater in there. Anyone ever tried this? Could be a cheap...

zink washer on a cooler MLT?

Yeah, I found stainless steel washers at two different Ace Hardware stores as well. Guess bigger isn't always better?

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Mine is bubbling furiously this morning as well! Thanks a ton Ed! I can't believe how good this tasted pre-fermentation!!! Since I am not kegging and can't crash cool, should I let this clear in a secondary after primary is done?

Yet another first AG day today!

OK, thanks guys. I tried with Beer Smith, but I couldn't figure it out. That's really simple, I appreciate it!
