    First Time Kegging Question

Okay great and thanks for the article! What exactly is the difference between his low/moderate and High? Is that just saying 16 hours at 30 PSI for a relatively low carbed beer? Sorry for being a novice haha

    First Time Kegging Question

Great! With the shorter duration of 30 PSI and then lowering eliminates the risk of an over carb Sounds great! Pretty low risk of over carbonation at 36? Wasn't sure with them being lighter beers if that made a difference. Thanks!

    First Time Kegging Question

okay thanks for the quick feed back! Following your suggestion, you think I will be relatively close to 100% carbed in 5.5 days? Thanks!

    First Time Kegging Question

Hi All- Will be trying my hand at kegging for the first time. I have a session ipa and session brown ale that are both around 4.5-5% abv. My plan is to keg this Friday Night and have it ready for a beach trip that we are leaving for next Thursday in the afternoon. So it will be getting about...

Help me prepare to go BIAB

Yea I try to be crafty when I can  Also, another thing I do for sparging is put the grain bags in a 5 gallon bucket and add my sparge water. Cover it and let it set for my 10 minute sparge. Then once I'm done adding the sparge water to the kettle I set the grain bag on top of a colander...

Help me prepare to go BIAB

Looks like you have a great setup already. If you want to keep the cost low to start I've had success brewing 5 gallon BIAB batches (usually 10-12lbs of grain) with paint strainer bags from Lowes/Home Depot. I double bag it and has worked out well. Also, in place of a false bottom just using a...

US Safale 05 Attenuation of 90%?

Thanks for the input! Never used the sean terrill calculator before. I'll have to check it out. Really was hoping this beer stays between 4.5%-4.75%. I think I'll do the hydrometer reading before moving to secondary this weekend then.

US Safale 05 Attenuation of 90%?

It does, but does not take into account the alcohol present from fermentation so have to use part II for FG

US Safale 05 Attenuation of 90%?

I used the whole packet and re-hydrated the yeast prior to pitch. Yea I usually follow the course of just leaving it be for 2 weeks and then a secondary if needed otherwise just 3 weeks primary to really clear it up. Maybe I leave them too long? -- especially if most yeast finish in 3-5 days...

    Questions about BIAB - Robobrew

I recently switched to doing a 60%/40% method for my brew in a bag instead of full boil amount in the mash. I have experienced an increased efficiency/conversion rate. I take my total amount of water needed for the batch and use 60% of it for the mash -- usually puts me around 2qt/lb of grain...

US Safale 05 Attenuation of 90%?

Yea I suppose too this is my first time having ferm. chamber. I guess ideal conditions really unleashes the beast! That is crazy in 3-4 days -- what yeasts did you usually use?

US Safale 05 Attenuation of 90%?

Yea I think I will test it with the hydrometer tonight to compare. Guess it's not unheard of for US 05 to fly through a beer that quickly is it?

US Safale 05 Attenuation of 90%?

Hi All- so I brewed a session IPA end of February and after 8 days took a gravity reading last night with refractometer. OG was 1.044 Reading last night came in at 4.75 brixx and once converted in calculator that says it is at 1.003 gravity. So if that is all correct that means I had an...

Water Profile Suggestion for Brown Ale

Good Morning All! Brewing Caribou Slobber from Northern Brewer tomorrow. A brown ale with pretty good hop profile. This will be my first time adding and working on my water profile. Usually I just use bottled spring water, but ready to take the next step. Would love if anyone could point me in...

    Dryhopping in bag

I use a bag for mine. To help with getting all of the hops submerged I add a few sanitized marbles to the bag to weigh it down.

First Keezer Build Arctic King 5cu ft

Got a decent start last night. Will work on outer facing finished wood tonight to make it look nicer. I got some 3/4 inch PREMA "R" Unfaced Polystyrene Garage Door Foam Board Insulation. Will put that on the inside of the collar. Wondering, do I need to wrap the wood in aluminum foil or that...

First Keezer Build Arctic King 5cu ft

Do any of you guys plan to insulate? I'm going to try and figure out an option for that as I need to finish it up this week so it's ready for this weekend to start my fermentation/serve cycle

First Keezer Build Arctic King 5cu ft

Wow looks great! I just hopped on the same deal from Walmart end of last week. Have my 2x4's all cut and ready to roll. Will try to get it finished in the next week or so as I'm brewing the 24th and plan to use it as fermentation chamber into kegerator.
