    Idea for chilling wort

Any idea of an estimate of how long it would take to get down to pitching temp? Love the idea of being able to save/reuse water. Are the initial buckets of tap water pretty effective to start?

    Idea for chilling wort

oh perfect, I do have a garden hose attachment on one end of the ID tube - - would it fit on to this pump? Then the other end of the ID tube where the water comes out you just recirculate the water right?

    Idea for chilling wort

Okay I like this idea a lot! I know my tubing is 3/8 ID -- so for this pump I would need to get a smaller nozzle to attach it to right? Thanks!

    Idea for chilling wort

Borrowing a friends chiller may be just the trick as I remember my buddy has one. What is the best way for me to connect them? Mine has the garden hose attachment on one end.

    Idea for chilling wort

This may be a completely stupid idea, but what the heck. This will be my first time brewing a 10 gallon batch this weekend and I don't want to spend hours cooling it. I have an immersion chiller, but as the weather is in the 80s-90s it isn't exactly cold water from the ground. So my idea: Can...

    Ladle Suggestions for Decoction Mash

Guess the graduated part isn't the most important, but I definitely want something that can hold 32 ounces or more so I'm not spending forever with a small soup ladle.

    Ladle Suggestions for Decoction Mash

Ladle/dipper -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0064ODD82/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 This was one option I also thought of -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CI6Z8U/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 Feel I'd prefer having the long handle, but I guess the measuring pitcher wouldn't be terrible

    Ladle Suggestions for Decoction Mash

Hi All- Brewing an Oktoberfest in the next few weekends. I've read/saw that a few people use a 32 oz. graduated ladle/dipper when pulling the grains for decoction mash. Before buying one off amazon for $13 thought I'd see if there are any other suggestions of things to use that others have...

Creative wort chiller ideas (trying to save on ice)

Would you happen to have any photos of this setup? I need to mimic this as I'm preparing to brew a 10 gallon batch of oktoberfest and I do not want a 90-120 minute cooling session

    BIAB and clarity

You will have more trub in your carboy (especially if you squeeze a ton), but no fear it settles out. I try to get more wort into my carboy to make up for this -- it's great once you get your equipment/system tuned in! I haven't noticed needing more time. I just tested/tasted my session ipa...

    BIAB and clarity

I do BIAB as well and I can have a pretty murky wort...mostly because I like using wheat or oats, but using irish moss, wort chiller, strain when transferring to carboy, rack to secondary after 2 weeks and a 2-3 day cold crash and I have quite clear beer coming out of my keg.

    First recipe attempt

Looking at your hop additions... for the whirlpool what temp do you plan to put the hops in and for how long? I was just learning about the whirlpool hop utilization when I made my first blonde ale recipe from scratch last week! Around 15-25 or so is good for IBUs.

South Carolina SC midlands area brewers

Looks awesome! How exactly did you do this -- the thermometer and the spigot? I just bought a new 15 gallon tall boy and would consider doing this!

Chest Freezer and Temp Controller Question

Good stuff! I'm very pleased with how every thing has worked out so far. Been through one round of fermentation chamber and just finished up my kegs. Will be starting another cycle Saturday when I brew. I think I need to consider a fan that kicks on when the freezer kicks on as there is...
