    Mountain Brew

I recently did a batch of mountain brew at the request of my roomate (i.e. he bought all the ingredients). Granted i adjusted the online recipe slightly, i added 1/2lb crystal 10 and i substituted centennial for bittering and cascade for aroma to suit my NW pale ale tastes :) . Very drinkable...

How to make a hop tea?

I was under the impression that If I don't boil it, just steep for a while, this will not extract a lot of bitterness. I was planning on using cascades...

How to make a hop tea?

A brewing buddy of mine recently made a pale ale that tastes very under hopped (coming from the primary). I told him he may be able to add hop tea to the secondary. I was thinking maybe an ounce or two of cascades? How long should these be boiled and in how much water in order to impart a...

2 consecutive batches with little/no carbonation?

Both batches have been primed with 1.25 cups of DME, bottled, and stored at room temp (68F). One has been in bottles about 3.5 weeks, and the other about 2.5 weeks. Should I uncap them and add carbonation caps, corn sugar, or just let them sit longer? I'm kind of at a loss as to why two...

Help with Hefe -- STRONG banana flavors

Disclaimer: I don't usually put lemon(or any other fruit) in my beer. But...if it isn't very good, the lemon may be it's saving grace. Would just rather not throw it out, thats all!

Help with Hefe -- STRONG banana flavors

Thanks for the information guys. I just hope the hefe comes around with a little age. Or maybe I'll just have to put a giant slice of lemon in it.

    Grolsh bottle prices?

Grolsch is $1.69 at the Fred Meyer (full of course), and the bottles are $1.50 empty at the LHBS, so I figure the beer must be worth at least 19 cents. Don't like the green glass too much though.

Help with Hefe -- STRONG banana flavors

Orrelse, would the temp inside the fermentor be 75 F even if the Fermometer on the side said 70 F? Just curious. Thanks Brandon

Help with Hefe -- STRONG banana flavors

I just bottled a Hefe brewed with White Labs hefeweizen yeast. I sure hope it mellows out a lot. It has an unbelievably strong banana sweetness too it. Is there anything I can do differently to change the flavor profile while using this yeast? The beer was fermented at 70 F. Thanks...

Anyone ever use Super Kleer finings?

How well does it work? I'd like my beer to come out just a little bit clearer. I think Irish moss in the boil did help a little, but I just want to take it one step further. Brandon

    I need a clone recipe for Mac & Jac's!

Anyone.....Bueller? Well, guess I'll have to reserve it as a treat when I go out to the bars. I know somebody here in the great NW has got to have a recipe for this delicious beer though. Brandon

Help me decide! Party Pigs vs. Mini Kegs...

I'm a noob who has brewed about 5 batches now (extract and specialty grains) and I'd love to get into kegging. However, I live in a smallish apartment and have limited space and funds (2nd year of doctorate program). I've been looking into party pigs and also the 5l party kegs. Or should I...
