First All Grain, Second Brew Day

I'm currently sparging and had one addt'l question. After the 60 minute boil, is it okay if i put a frozen block of ice in the wort to help cool and bring it to needed volume? i've read of others doing this, but wouldn't it water down my gravity/wort?

First All Grain, Second Brew Day

So my first batch is in the books and it turned out okay. It's drinkable and friends and family said it was good. Me personally, I thought it was just average at best, but for a first go around I'll take it. The first batch was an extract kit and I decided to go for an all-grain Brew Day...

    Force Carbing Stout

Well alrighty...i'll set it at the 6 PSI when i get home after purging. If it's overcarbed, how long will that usually take to equalize? Loaded question i know...but ballpark maybe? For future purposes, should I always just set the PSI at serving pressure? If so, is 3-4 days long enough? I feel...

    Quick Question for First Batch

I went with the "full boil". We'll see how well it works out. On a side note, my yeast says to ferment at 70-75*, whereas the beer directions say 64-72*. Which should i go with?

    Quick Question for First Batch

For my first brew, the instructions say: Begin by heating 2.5 gallons of water in your Brew Pot to 150* and add grains...then malt later...then hops...rolling boil for 60 minutes...then cool to 70*...then add water until it is 5 gallons. Question: Can I just start with 5 gallons of water...
