Are we talking 10:30 am? (which is quite do-able) We go to thunder tower all the time as we own a Harley and my hubby will probably use this as a chance to go peruse the new products. LOL I think I can have the wild blackberry/blueberry bottled up by then. How many bottles would you suggest I...

OK, give me more info on this DIY thing. Other than the little bit y'all have talked about it here, I don't know much about it. Where is it? What time? Etc, Etc.... I will put it on the calendar and see if I can't convince the Mr. otherwise I may just come alone! ;) I gotta get these two...

    My first fail

I didn't even know these kinds of juice exist. I know this sounds incredibly dim, but the reason is about 7 years ago I had gastric bypass surgery as I was incredibly sick and it was the fastest, safest way for me to get better quick. Ever since I have stayed as far away from the center of the...

    My first fail

Well the recipe called for the limes, so it wasn't really a crap shoot. How would I increase the heat on the must? I have it in my kitchen tucked in a spot it won't get bumped. I used the Montrachet packet of yeast. God I feel like I am so over my head right now! ~Alli

    My first fail...but why?

OH! I know about that just didn't know the abbreviation. I guess I thought you didn't take a reading until before you pitched the yeast?

    Man it feels good!

I am a sweet wine kinda girl. Red wines actually give me nasty headaches, but my first wine, of course, was a red (wild blackberry/blueberry). I am excited to try it and will suck it up if it gives me a headache because I am just so excited to have brewed my first wine.... And ya know, I had...

:( I need a wine making tutor.... Anyone up for personal lessons? Is there a thread with the abbreviations and terms of the brewing process I can read so I can understand some of the "greek" people here are talking about? I feel like a dummy. HAHAHAHA I need a "winemaking for dummies" course...

    My first fail

I don't know if it helped, but I added the juice of 6 limes to the batch. My hands hurt for hours afterwords (I've already bought a juicer for the future!). ~Alli

Just pears? Did you add any other fruit? Is pears a good sweet wine? ~Alli

    My first fail...but why?

I am liking option 2 too. And final ABV? Sorry, this is only my second batch and I am not as familiar with the terms and techniques of the game. I need a winemaking tutor... LOL So no campden tablets then? ~Alli

    My first fail...but why?

I started the batch and set it aside to sit for 24 hrs before pitching the yeast. When I popped the lid off to pitch the yeast there was a light layer of mold on the top of the must and pulp bag. It's not like BAD (thick and black and hairy), but definitely there (more like a dusting of a...

    My first fail...but why?

*Sigh* I failed again... LOL I thought I posted this on the winemaking forum. I'm sorry.

    My first fail...but why?

I started a watermelon/peach batch following the recipe EXACTLY and I made sure to sterilize everything fanatically. Today I opened my fermenter to pitch the yeast and I was greeted with mold. I don't know where I failed. This is only my second batch and I know it was bound to happen, but I am...

    My first fail

So, my watermelon/peach batch has mold on the top of it this morning. I did everything the recipe called for so how does this happen? Does the campden tablets not kill off anything in the batch that could turn into mold? I sanitize everything like a freak as well. I am gutted. :( Help me make...

    Man it feels good!

I have my wild blackberry/blueberry in the secondary ready to rack into a new carboy to finish clearing and my watermelon/peach in the primary. :rockin: Wonder what to do next? I have two 3 gallon fermenters and a 6 1/2 gallon sitting there looking SO lonely... I love my wine sweet, if I...
