Many people use Aluminum. There are a number of reasons why alot of people prefer SS but mostly because it's more durable and even moreso because it's shiny. Anyways do a google search on aluminum vs stainless for a brew kettle and you should find tons of info. All the old info about Aluminum...
Be careful with carbing Hefe's and Dunkel's. The recomended volumes of carb is higher than what your bottles will be able to withstand iirc. You may not have any problems but if it was me I would double check(google search) the max vols for bottles and then go from there. I think it's 3.0 but...
Don't know if your planning on using LP or natural but if LP I would find a way to put the tank outside. Definately not safe to have use the tank indoors.
I'm looking to turn my old Gamecube into a stirplate. I don't have much exp dealing with circuit boards/electronics so I'm looking for some advice. Should I try to use the exsiting power supply and on/off button or should I just take all the guts out and only use the enclosure? If it...
To me it's boderline monopolistic behaviour. The company owns so many brands they don't care if you stop buying one product. They probably own the substitute brand that the consumer buys. Alot of the brands you think are "craft" are actually owned by BMC(AB Inbev inparticular). I realize...
IMO if you enjoy a product and you find the price resonable then by all means keep buying and enjoying. That is probably the case with most of the people who enjoy BMC's flagship offerings. Most of those people don't really care what ingredients are used or how fresh they are. Not trying to...
My thoughts exactly. Becks was a front line brand when they bought it, now they don't care about it. It sounds like they figure if they own everything and produce all of it as cheap as possible then it doesn't matter if consumers drop one brand for another because they own that one too.
I...
From what I understand 1 packet (11.5 grams) of dry yeast will be enough for most 5 gallon batches until you get over 1.070 then you might want to go 1.5 packets. Use the mrmalty calc to find out for sure.
From what I've read you can do either. If it's your first year growing then the plants benefit from leaving the bines grow until they go dormant and then clip them off. I think it helps crown growth, but they will be fine if you clip them also.
If your getting good results then thats all that matters. Its all about pitching the proper amount of healthy cells. Alot of us use a calc like the one @ mrmalty.com to find out the right size starter. As far as decanting vs pitching the full thing, it's a personal preference sort of thing...
I bought the kit so I have the Centennial's but I also have some homegrown chinook and cascasde. I was thinking about using the cascade and saving the cent pellets. I figured I know the AA of the pellets and could use them as bittering for another brew and use up some of my homegrowns for the...
