I screwed up the first time and posted this in the wrong section. I heard of a guy that had problems with gnats and or fruit flys around his brew stuff. I didn't know if this was a common problem or maybe this guy was messy or something. Anyone else have problems like this?

I was told by a friend that knows a homebrewer that brews beer and wine that he has had problems with gnats and or fruit flys. He said brewing beer wasn't as bad as wine but still had problems with both. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this problem or if it was just the way this guy does...

If HDPE is gas permiable will your beer start to get taste carry over after a few batches?

I wondered what type of plastic bucket should the fermenter be made of? Is it ok to use hdpe plastic or only go with pet plastic?

SWPA here also....Beaver County......Sounds like we are in the same boat. I went to South Hills Brewing Supply but they werent much help at all. Everyone here makes it sound like a really fun and rewarding hoby. I am getting closer and closer to giving it a try.
