    Calculating Grain Requirements

I am still rather new but it depends on who converted it. People convert size and to their systems efficiencies and losses. This can change quantities of both ingredients and water.

Apparently I need to make the jump to wine. (Craigslist score)

Yea now i just need to figure out what to brew and where to put it all. I will be moving in March, to a house/duplex rather than my apartment, so I think I will wait to really fill the pipe line till after that happens. Now i need to find a place with a nice basement for storing the pipeline.

Oatmeal Stout recipe - Critique - my first recipe

I brewed this recipe this past weekend. I updated the recipe in the OP to reflect what I did. Only major change was the use of Pacman yeast. I figured I shouldn’t pass up the chance to pitch on top of a good yeast cake rather than just pitch dry Notty. I believe I should get similar...

Apparently I need to make the jump to wine. (Craigslist score)

I also meant to mention that the older gentlemen I bought the stuff from had easily 350-400 full bottles of wine in his basement And that was just the full racks that i saw. He may have had more. He said he was moving on to different hobbies. I believe he will be enjoying the fruits of his...

    University Brew Clubs?

I am also a recent ISU alum. I still make frequent trips back to Ames. I would be interested in the club and information once it gets started. I got into home brewing after i graduated. I still support one of the clubs i was involved in as a student. As for help on the topic i have none...

Oatmeal Stout recipe - Critique - my first recipe

I appreciate the input. I am rethinking the 6-row now, I think that 50% 2-row will be enough to convert. I will mash for 90 min to help also. First post edited to current recipe. Any other thoughts

Oatmeal Stout recipe - Critique - my first recipe

Edited mash temp to 152 and .5 crystal 60L(This was my original thought anyway). I love oatmeal stouts and see many recipes with 2lbs in them. Should i be worried about conversion? Should go to 6-row to get there? Also I am a noob I read the flaked barley gives a creamy feel, right or wrong...

Oatmeal Stout recipe - Critique - my first recipe

HBT I want to make a super creamy, and velvety oatmeal stout. I have done a dozen or so recipes and am taking a shot at creating my own. After looking through other recipes I have formulated this recipe. I am a PM brewer at the moment and 7 lbs of grain is about max for my system. I brew...

    Trade: Wing type capper

doggage and Christopherx, I must apologize about the situation. I didn't mean to create a conflict. The last thing i want it to sully my name or anyone else's on HBT. Due to the close timing of both post i did decide to trade with doggage, I am sincerely sorry for the misunderstanding in...

    Trade: Wing type capper

I try, i am just hoping if anyone post a corker I can grab it before anyone else does? The SHMBO would be much happier if i trade equipment rather than just keep buying it.
