    How much hops in IPA?

There are a lot of opinions on cold break. From important to no concern. There is even a no chill following. And another discussion on at what temps are ideal for post boil additions. There is no 'right' method, but what works for you.

Countdown to Armegeddon: Will Yooper's post count break the internet?

Icons, windowing?? How does that work in 80x24? Two of my community college professors went in on an Imsai 8080 and the first code they wrote (toggled?) was a keyboard driver. That was in '78. We were impressed! I was writing machine code on my TRS 80 Model 4 as soon as Radio Shack started...

    Galvanized Steel for ducting...

Hmmm, did you somehow see my pile of parts? You pretty much described exactly what I have ready to finish. I've been pondering the condensation issue as well, and had not considered the galvanized pipe. In my design the inline duct fan is attached to the bowl 'top' and will connect to flexible...

    How much hops in IPA?

My last (D)IPA came in at about 80 IBU, and had amazing hop flavor, far exceeding anything I've done before. I don't have the details handy, but it was 1 oz each at 60, 30?, 15, 5, flameout, then dry hop 4 & 7 days. Poured at 12 days and holy lupinoly. Had I used 6 oz in the dry hop as has been...

    Help with an STC-1000

Lots of people here on HBT have their probes in liquid without any issues that I recall hearing about. I've had the same probe in glycol for 2 years without any issues. I wouldn't put it in my beer though.

BCBS 2015 the great corporate squeeze

Is there another BCBS product that sounds the same and costs 3-4 times what's been discussed here? (rhetorical question...) We're paying 4 pack prices for bottles NJ and MD (4 different locations) and only able to buy 1 or 2.

    Who picked up BCBS today?

I stumbled on the Regular (1 per person) at a local shop last night, and have relatives scouring their areas now. I'm a little late to the party, as usual.

    Hop Stand/Whirlpool - Getting great hop aroma/flavor

Slym2none and madhomebrewer, thanks for the feed back. I've got some time to look at it before the next brew. I'm trying to stick with the hops I have to use them up. Just too many on hand, such as the Brewers Gold. It seemed like a good choice for any flavor left through the boil.

Those that Both Bottle and Keg

BYO has a good writeup on "bottle conditioning". The temperature does come into play as some CO2 will remain in solution after fermentation, and the amount is related to temperature. I don't believe that for homebrewers this amount will be consistent though. I know that once the fermentation...

    Hop Stand/Whirlpool - Getting great hop aroma/flavor

I found this thread recently, and very interested. I am a major hop aficionado and on my last brew got the best batch so far. I was trying to clone one of my favorite IPAs and get some 'practice' for an upcoming club clone competition. While I was somewhat off on my clone, it was amazing...

    Another spa for wort

You need to take this advice. That is one wacky panel, and you are clearly in over your head. If you can't/won't go to an electrician, then you need to at least find someone that is experienced to help you, in person. I don't know codes, but I doubt that doubling up neutrals is OK. The panel...

Looking for a good Pilsner recipe

I've done about 10 lagers with good temp control and yours sounds ok. I've never had big starts. They just seem to chug along. Others mileage may vary.

    Chiller pump

For the Fast Fermeter, yes I think this is better. With the large handle valve at the bottom and the thermowell midpoint, a chiller wrap would have to be semi permanent. Plus it's plastic, so not the greatest thermal transfer. The heater wrap I made has the film running at a slight angle top to...

    Chiller pump

I've been toying with an ss coil for my fast ferment conical, mounted to lid, but FF are bone heads and wont sell lids yet. Dont want to mod mine till I have a backup. I did make heater wrap for it, but it just wont suffice for cooling coils.

    Gordon biersch

Our club went to the Baltimore location a while back and the brewer there seemed rather.... lax? Each location is responsible for it's own beer, and the brewer seems to have wide latitude. I was not impressed. Nothing wrong with the beers as I recall, but nothing special either. I would expect...

    Chiller pump

I have DIY carboy wraps. Aluminum flashing with plastic tubing taped to it, and reflectix wrapped around it. 3/8" ID and about 15 feet of it. I made 2 with different tubing (and length), but have not compared them for performance. Here is the shorter, rubber tubing one. The other is plastic...

    Chiller pump

Had my sizes wrong, I have 291 and 400 g/h models. Can't beat these prices, $20 and $25. Got 2 of each and all 4 are going strong more than a year later.

    Chiller pump

I bought pond pumps from an online store and they are working fine with more than a year use in RV/marine glycol. I found that to get decent flow through my system, and up 5 feet, you need at least a 750/gal/he is needed. I use them for lagering but this glycol slushes up in the 20's and without...
