    HomeBrewTalk Survey

I still think it's a matter of market saturation when it comes to brewing kits & the like. Combine that with the explosion of craft beers in America, & you have another part of the reason. We are considered the mecca of craft beers in the world today as well.:mug:

    Greetings from Berlin, Germany

Howdy! You picked the best place over here for current brewing ideas & Such. Besides wine & mead making, foodie stuff & tinkering. My dad's side is from Upper Bavaria. The wall ran through the middle of the city Johan Peter & his grandfather Kroeger were from. They sailed for America in 1728 &...

Gardening Frustrations__ The season of the Varmint

Some of them are expensive, like $560+. But some impressive numbers just the same. I figured 1400 FPS to be enough. Dang rabbits & starlings around here are annoying. Too many of'em...we'll see now! Click, click, boom!

    What are you drinking now?

Cold coffee with some kinda flavored creamer.

    Taking gravity readings

You can also get small diameter steel or aluminum tubing at hobby shops. I used to get it at slot racing shops back in the 90's.

Gardening Frustrations__ The season of the Varmint

Gardening Frustrations__ The season of the Varmint

10 gauge or less the regs say that I just looked at? Some hunting/shooting sites say stuff, then you look it up & do the WTF routine. Just picked up an ammo pen & 2 different weights of pellets/designs. Boy do they have a pellet for every situation now?! Varmints to birds to squirrels. Guys have...

How long in fridge to see menaingful clearing bottles?

Yes. Chill haze has no flavor of it's own. As the beer cools down in the fridge, the excess proteins start sticking together to make the beer appear foggy, or hazy. Usually overnight. Buy day 3-5, it starts to settle out like a fog bank. That said, if it's foggy going in, & refuses to settle...

Another nearly extinct beer worthy of note

That'll be at least another month. a few weeks minimum to see if it carbonates in the normal time frame. Then a week in the fridge. I'm going to age most of it for fall & holidays. Should go great with Christmas baking. In any case, I'll do a tasting video in a month. And yes, since I started...

What I did for beer today

Just looks like receding krausen to me, no slimy white bubbles. They're all clear. Looks ok to me?! :mug:

Gardening Frustrations__ The season of the Varmint

Well, found 50 pages of these new-style air rifles on Walmart website. Sheez, these things have 2-3 times the power my old 760 did! Better prices then Crosman site too. Bought this Winchester 1400CS with shoulder strap, 3-9X32mm scope, bipod, muzzle break & 1400FPS! New-era varmint bad-assery...

Chill haze, more than the norm

I also have my old Canon FTb 35mm...but they took my Kodachrome away, & my VR1000. damn. Good camera too...When I get a kegerator someday, the bottles might go up for target practice with my new Winchester...

    Post your infection

I've gotten both before. The rainbow, " oil on water" shimmer is from dry hop oils, usually. But that broken ice pack look is definitely an infection starting.

Gardening Frustrations__ The season of the Varmint

I was watching videos on YouTube, & stumbled onto modern air rifle vids. I came to wonder how well my old Crossman 760 Powermaster stacks up against these Modern Crossman PCP rifles? Anyone know off-hand? Like to use an air rifle for these damned starlings & rabbits.

What did I cook this weekend.....

It's real easy to slap together too. I experimented with this sort of recipe for years. Then the other day, it just popped into my head. You'll like the flavor & texture, I'm sure. :mug:

    Post your infection

The infection is all through the beer, not just on top. that's just where it manifests itself. Besides, I tried the Starsan spray once & it helped very little, if at all.

    Taking gravity readings

I also have spigots on my primaries. Just pop the cap on the airlock & remove the center piece to fill the hydrometer tube. I spray the spout on the spigot before & after with Starsan as well. This has the added bonus of clearing any gunk out of the spigot.
