    Portland Oregon must stop breweries

It's an awesome brewery in Astoria. Great stouts and IPAs along with very good food. If you go, visit Buoy and Reach Break breweries too. De Garde is a LONG drive south from there to Tillamook, but nationally ranked high on Rate Beer because of their sour program and well worth it. Astoria is...

Of course, Stammtisch doesn't have any Oregon or Portland beers on tap...

    Portland Oregon must stop breweries

If you are talking just breweries, not tap houses: Cascade for sours. Great Notion- especially hazy IPAs, but also imperial stouts and sours. Upright- farmhouse, barrel aged, sours. Breakside- everything, but especially barrel aged, culinary inspired, IPAs. Hopworks- everything, with a real...

    Pitched WLP800 but zero activity

What was the original gravity and what was the gravity when you last checked it?

    Great Western 2 row

Yep, solid 2 row, hard to tell from any other maltsters' 2 row. As described above- more malt grain/cracker/bread flavor than pilsner, not as much as pale ale malt or something like Maris Otter or Golden Promise.

    What brewery are you visiting?

Aha! Then- Ale Apothecary, Bend Brewing, Sunriver, Crux, and Boneyard.... did you check any of them out in addition to 10 Barrel? If not, next time.

    What brewery are you visiting?

Anhieser Busch??? WTF!!! I’m throwing those delicious barrel aged beers I bought out of my beer fridge right now. Does bleach get the corporate smell out of a fridge? Seriously though, there were tons of other breweries I wanted to stop at and Deschutes was packed to the brim. Add in I had a...

I used 2oz of 10+% AA hops in the boil and my beer is NOT bitter - Help?

OP said there was a boil with 1oz each Hallertau Blanc and Rakau hops for one hour. The info you listed are whirlpool hops after the boil.

The craft beer bubble is busting.

How did you make $100 mowing lawns? If you used a lawn mower you spent money to buy it, gas/electric to run it (not including labor/time cost) and that has to be factored in to cost/profit. What if you spent $500 for a mower, spent $2 for gas, and made $100? You'd still be down $402.

    Backpacking Beer?

I would give up on expecting clear, yeast-free beer unless you bottle from a keg. Decanting carefully with expectation of lower carbonation, too, could work. One possibility for containers is reusing plastic 2L or smaller bottles from soft drinks for your beer. They don't break and can be semi...

    Primary or Secondary?

Most folks here don't bother with a secondary anymore. Hit it with the isinglass or gelatin and bottle/keg.

    Overcarbing problem

Posting more information might help us help you. For example: Are you sure these beers were done fermenting? How did you know? What has been the gravity at bottling, then the gravity after letting a gusher go flat and measuring it. If they are the same, no further fermentation of beer/wort...

Making some Sake (Japanese rice wine)

Yes, you are stepping up the koji with the additions, similar to a yeast starter. Let us know how it turns out and any insight. Have you checked out the rice wine thread on here? It might offer another/easier method to a very similar product.

Going to Portland, Oregon for first time! Suggestions?

Breakside. Hopworks, Double Mountain, Deschutes, Hair of the Dog. Avoid McMenamin's and Rogue. There are a bunch more similar threads on the Northwest Forum on Homebrewtalk for ideas too.
