    CPVC Question

Have a question that has been bothering me for a bit. Am doing a little "plumbing" with a conical fermenter. Want to extend bottom drain a bit and place another valve. Can't find Stainless valve around here; only brass. Everyone says to use "food grade" cement or epoxy. Questions: 1...

Hey Sam....work got in the way of getting back to the forum. What a bummer. Yes, I was quite surprised to find such a well equipped HBS in Tulsa. But it really is a greay place. They have classes and on Saturdays, if you can be there, they hand out samples!!!! They got my wife hooked on wine...

    Mr. Beer

I agree with sudsmonkey. Just get started and do what feels comfortable for you. If you like it alot (as I did) then you can gradually improve your setup. Lots to learn, believe me, I learn something in one way or another everyday. Relax, and who cares what someone else thinks about your...

    New to Forum

Welcome. I too have enjoyed this forum. I am somewhat concerned that homebrewing is illegal in Utah. Oh well, I would do it anyway because I believe that homebrew is highly superior to that you buy. Just be careful!! Do not become an example in your new state. It is hard to imagine that...

    GROUP BREW??? Cranberry zinger--from BYO

Question: Will you bottle or keg? I too saw this in BYO and found it interesting. But as I live in Oklahoma and the nearest shop is 150 miles away, it may take me a little longer to get to it. Cheesefood, what is recipe for Caramel Vanilla Cream Ale? Thanks, Tim

    Ever get suspicious neighbors?

After only 5 batches "under my belt" (its actually going over my belt!!!) I have had folks of different opinions. First is that group that says "Hey, this is really good stuff! I can't believe you made this yourself!" Then there is the group that looks at you with that stupid grin and says...

    Conical Fermenter Questions

UPDATE!! UPDATE!! Thought I'd let you know; the saran wrap did the trick! I wrapped it up pretty good and then put a BIG rubber band (my wife uses them for something when she does ceramics!) around it. It started bubbling through the airlock almost immediately!! Then I put it under an air...

    Conical Fermenter Questions

Thanks HB. I never thought about the saran wrap deal. Very clever!!! Will get the gasket soon though. Will try to get it a little more cool. Have noticed that the ring is getting bigger. This forum and the info is simply invaluable. Thanks again. Tim

    Conical Fermenter Questions

Just got a new Mini-brew conical fermenter. Had to brew a batch and test it out! Just a few questions though: 1. Fermenter is an 8 gallon plastic. I brewed a 5 gallon extract with grains. LOTS of room at the top. Is this bad? 2. Do not have the rubber gasket thing; Has been about...
