Hot water tank as a brew pot....?

Looks like one of the neighbours is doing a trip to the dump very soon, and there's a hot water tank sitting there in the rubbish pile. Should I ask grab it to use as a brew pot, or am I better off to go and buy an electric one? What if anything would I need to do to make it useable besides...

I'm not complaining mind you but...why no headaches?

You're just not drinking enough. I made a keg for a party and indulged in quality control exercise of having one beer for everyone someone else had - just to be sure that the quality was still good. It was a 20l keg, i mus'tve had 9 litres of it myself. hangover from hell. course it could have...

    Hello from Ireland

Hi Peter, I'm down in Dublin, and also find it difficult to get stuff. Least you don't get whacked so much for shipping if you order in the UK online shops - they tend to charge more for us down south, cos we're 'international'! :) All the best Ken

Orfy, here is your chance to watch some REAL football...

Agreed. And sure how could they even work up a decent sweat when there's like 4 different teams on a side ready to take the field at any one time depending on the phase of the moon, color of the coaches wifes' hair on the day, location of the ball relative to the man in the stripey jumper and...

    I'm watching the SB illegally!

Kerry would be better footballers than hurlers. You'd be better off with waterford, kilkenny, cork, wexford or possibly clare if you're for the hurling... ;)

My inlaws think I'm a drunk

There ain't nothing worse than getting too much blood in your alcohol stream. Or, as someone more famous than me once said "I drink to get drunk, that's what it's for".

    Shane MacGowan

Shane is pure class, an absolute genius lyricist. Writes beautiful, haunting songs. The Pogues put on a class act, despite the fact that Shaneo can barely stand. Some folk get pissed off cos he comes on stage drunk, occasionally vomits on himself or others, blabbers incoherently etc etc. But he...

Heading to Doolin in a couple weeks, any suggestions?

Hi Seefresh, well Doolin is tiny. eensy weensy tiny. There are only 3 pubs, and you can pretty much see each from the other. Seriously. Tiny place - http://www.kingsway.ie/doolin/DoolinMap.html. Great place though - you will love it. To be honest I just wombled from pub to pub the two times I...

Any suggestions for Mountain View or San Jose, CA?

Can't believe I forgot to ask this - are there any homebrew stores in the bay area worth driving to, to have a nose around? Cheers K

Any suggestions for Mountain View or San Jose, CA?

Cheers Stephen, don't drink Smithwicks at home, so surely won't bother drinking it here!I tend to avoid the "irish" pubs the world over unless I need to see a rugby match or something, they tend to be reliable for that. I'll type 'bevmo' into my neverlost in the hire car and see what happens...

Any suggestions for Mountain View or San Jose, CA?

Thanks guys, but there's a wee problem - you're talking about 'driving' in the same sentence as 'Beer Drinking', which kinda defeats the purpose if I can't sample all the offerings available..... Hmmmmm. How about off-licences (bottle shops, take aways, whatever you guys call it over there) - is...
